Oh and a word on our defence, much better. Manquillo and Moreno looked good but our CBs were very good. They didn't get a clean sheet because of luck, not the presence of Skrtel.

I can understand the need to close out the game but sitting back isnt how to do it, we should be pressing if they are in our half.

Balotelli was mostly ****. Lambert did more pressing in the first minute of coming on the mario did all game. Chucking himself to ground for **** all. Cant wait for the january sales.

Moreno and lallana did well, sterling is great.

On the plus side. That was the best performance by our centre backs this season.

Lallana has a bloody good engine on him.

        Countinho looked lively.

        The right back did well.

Gerrard played well and kept us ticking over.

Marios head dropped but he chased back and earnt the ovation, that bodes well.

We will get there, just have to be patient.

Lallana will probably fill that role once fully fit and match sharp.

We need that relentlessness in attack.

I thought we did okay. Should have scored a couple more goals but they were quite fortunate with that goal at the end. I was concerned we didn't win/get near the second ball at all today. I know that it was a freak goal with Jagielka of all people hitting that, but if we had men cleaning that up or closing him down it's infinitely more difficult.

Thought Balotelli was promising despite the miss (I think Howard saved it, but he should've scored it regardless). Even though he hasn't scored yet he's played a good part in a lot of our goals this season. I do wish however that he stops sitting on the ground holding his legs each time he gets knocked over it's quite frustrating.

I'm not sure how Gerrard and Moreno are the only ones booked, several Everton players deserved to join them. Particularly Barry who made consistent fouls all game.

I think that this might be the blueprint we should look towards as it seemed to suit us a lot better. Coutinho made a difference so that was promising, even though he was fairly poor it was encouraging that Markovic didn't hide and I thought his second half was a lot stronger.

Could see it coming, it was a much improved performance overall but after Balo went off for some reason we would not push out. Annoying.

I think Markovic will improve once everyone understands the patterns of play.

I'd stick with that defensive lineup now, I want to like Sakho but in combination I definitely prefer Skrtel - Lovren to Sakho - Lovren or Sakho - Skrtel right now.

Lallana I've been confident about all along and he's really growing into the shirt now, a proper footballer.

Agree, he was being sentimental about Lambert, that and we sat too deep.

Btw, moreno was so right to take down eto even if it meant taking a booking. We were looking wide open and he showed he is thinking of the bigger picture there.

We probably sat deep out of second nature but there's hardly evidence that it's down to Rodgers and cost us the game. If we'd have kept Balottelli and still conceded people would said we should have been more cautious.
                              Are we winning?

The only difference having Lambert on made was fresh legs. It didn't cause any change in approach, nor would replacing Mario with a different player have resulted in any tangible improvement. This desire to blame is ridiculous. We lost because we couldn't muster more than one goal and they fluked one at the end.
