To be fair, who exactly are our 'key' players? Because reports suggesting Gerrard and Lovren being rested then thats fine by me because they've been poor at best.
thats true. but henderson / sterling / lallana / balotelli etc... should all be on the pitch
It's not the League Cup though it's the Champions League. We were all dreaming of ties like this. Now we just want to throw it away?
If we just jack it in before kick off what message does that send? To the fans and our own players. "Don't worry lads you're all ****, you'll get battered no matter what, so let's just throw throw this one and focus on the Chelsea game."
It all feels very Hodgson. I get the logic but it's not for me.
Its not very Liverpool is it? Focus should always be on the next game, one game at a time etc etc.
"Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
its turned into a **** competition full of **** teams getting hammered home and away.
A heavy defeat home and away should eliminate us from the competition yet it doesn't, so lets get out with as lower score defeat as we can and concentrate on the last two games and obviously Chelsea.

It's all a double-bluff. Sturridge has been training secretly and is fit to play, and Gerrard is going to lead us to a famous victory tonight - Mig, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge and Balotelli...
Alright then, it probably isn't an elaborate bluff. Two things have interested me today though - one is that Sky Sports have just highlighted the purple bibs from last night's training, which would imply a team of Mig, Johnson, Skrtel, Toure, Moreno, Henderson, Dunn, Markovic, Lallana, Borini, Balotelli
And Dunn himself tweeted this a couple of hours ago:

So it looks like there's a real chance we could be giving a 19 year old his first team debut away at Real Madrid in the Champions League
The other thing that interested me was the comments from Brendan along the lines of "we've spent a lot of money on players, and that they won't be able to say after this cycle of games that they haven't been given a chance" - is this a way of saying to the transfer committee "look at the ****e you've landed me with"? Or just the more obvious interpretation that he's sending them a message that they need to take their opportunities when they come? Or both?
Not looking forward to this at all, Real are really a force at the moment. Kroos and co. will control midfield and run us over again. Hopefully we can stay compact and keep the zero for a while and hope to create a chance or two. We do have a few quick people up front, so perhaps we will get some break aways.
