Clearly brought on Allen and Borini to go to the diamond. It didn't look the daftest idea he's ever made. Lambert on for Balotelli didn't look like a genius move, but in fairness Mario was on a yellow, getting wound up and kept getting caught offside. I understood all his moves tbf, if not agreeing with them myself.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostDaniel Taylor @DTguardian 4m4 minutes ago
Rodgers explains Coutinho substitution. "I didn't feel we were creating enough. The supporters are frustrated and I understand that."
Hardly the reason we lost, we created a few chances and should have had a peno. But let's be honest, we lost the game and so every decision you make in that circumstance is the wrong one.Forwards.......

Individually he got beat a couple of times too easy out wide. Collectively he and the team were found wanting for their goals. Sometimes it's what you didn't do as opposed to what you did. But of course, we could point the finger at more than just him. He's made the scape goat, but for me he wasn't the reason we lost either.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostWhat did Lovren do wrong today?Forwards.......

Not brilliant at the moment it just doesn't look like a team at the mo however losing to Chelsea isn't a shock and I'm sure they're going to have more comfortable days than today in the league.
I just hope that this break allows us to get Sakho and Sturridge fit and allow us to work on how we're going to turn things around

I keep saying it but the bulk of our problems in midfield and attack relate to the system.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View Postbut what was his playing brilliant? supporting the pressing of Suarez and playing fairly simple short passes into the feet of them? He was vital to us but without the pair of them his role looks limited.
The lone striker is isolated the midfielders are 10-15 yards deeper and that ****ed the attacking play up. It means we dont press as high and cant turn the play quick enough and they also have further to run in order to support the attacking play or go beyond the front man
Unless he switches the system we wont see any dramatic upturn in performance of resultsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Sturridge - top class.Originally posted by tanner View PostI don't think we will.
Whats your opinion on the 4 forwards purchased by Rogers then?
Mario - Not good enough so far, but I think he'll shine with Danny.
Lambert - Made sense as another option when the plan was to sign Remy, but now he just looks like a better/worse Mario depending on your outlook. Another who will look better with someone like Danny who will compliment his style.
Fabio - Not good enough for LFC and never will be. Shows willing and works hard which I can't fault. I think we'll end up getting our money back or close to, and that'll be that.Forwards.......

The diamond is a good idea but bringing on Joe Allen when you are chasing a gameOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostClearly brought on Allen and Borini to go to the diamond. Hes the most neutral player I have ever seen he cant affect the play at the top end of the pitchBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

The problem is also having the players to make that system work I.e. Who would play up top ? A 19 year old Sterling that isn't a striker or Borini who isn't fancied or Lambert that's slower that John Terry
We can change the system all you like but you need the players to be able to do it

Clearly he's wanted to try different things, but none of it has worked. In the end he's settled for trying to be more solid and hope to scrape points. It's nearly worked a few times, but if you're not creating it's a fine line.Forwards.......

Yeah it's big problem at the moment. I think he's afraid to play the diamond because if Gerrard is the anchor/DM he will be exposed for his defensive frailties. If we had a specialist DM i think Rodgers would be much more content to play the diamond.. but sure he has to accommodate Stevie.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI keep saying it but the bulk of our problems in midfield and attack relate to the system.

So players dropping deep to cover the spaces & seems everyone else gets pulled back & isolates out already stagnant striker. It's just all wrong at the moment.

Borini (explained in the above post)
Ballotelli was never Rodgers first choice, or second for that matter and imo The plan was to sell Boroni and use the combined cash to buy a top striker, Boroni delayed the deal and left us with Ballotelli or nothing, admittedly high risk but may still come good.
Lambert, on last seasons form was a no brainier.
Sturridge, apart from injuries has been a superstar.
