One of the few times I have appreciated an international break, hopefully it's done goood for our team being able to train without a lot of focus. And hopfully the two weeks will have given us time to build upon the defensive organization that's clearly been in focus as of late. A bit on top of that and we will start looking decent.

THe lineup is not all that surprising, but personally disappointed that Can is on the bench instead of Allen. Lambert instead of Mario was quite obviously going to happen. Moreno is a surprise? Still carrying a bit of the injury maybe?

Hopefully having Lallana and Coutinho in midfield today will give us some much needed creativity going forward.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Indeed, but the manager's not an Internet drone only caring about the here and the now. He's got to look at the bigger picture.

But wouldn't it be great if he had the searing insight and depth of knowledge of the likes of us on here? I don't know what's wrong with the man

Someone with sense thankfully.

People saw last season that when we're on one game a week, he plays his best available XI and that's it. But we are on a different playing field right now. I dare say that if in his shoes we'd all prioritise certain games differently and there is no doubt that when it comes to team selection dilemmas he has very limited experience.

But we knew his experience level when he got the job, and to a man, most of us were willing to allow him to learn on the job. He has showed previously at this club that he's a quick learner and I am fully confident we will not find ourselves in the situation we are in again.

All that said, he needs results. You don't get time these days and you certainly can't expect respite at Anfield because you nearly won something. In the second half of the season I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be worried if results didn't improve. Mistakes were made in the summer and I expect them to be rectified in January.

But January is a long way off and IMO, finishing fourth or higher is essential for the development of this club. Need to start getting wins, granted. But we also need to make the knockout stages of the CL. Big money people.

He was signed to provide cover and that's what he does. We need an understanding at the back and need to build for the future. He isn't the answer. I would understand the criticism if that had been Sakho giving a top class performance and had been dropped.

A two week break would be great, until you factor in that most of them were away on international duty and not actually learning the basics on the training field. I see Stevie had a little shindig though, hopefully he's a bit more relaxed now.

I've never been Kolo's biggest fan.......but it aint cover that this current crop of players need. It's outright competition for places. Kicks up the arse when they are not turning in performances.

Frankly, there's too many players in our team far too comfortable with their positions. That's one of the major issues with Brendan right now. It sends completely wrong messages to the so-called fringe players when they see that performances are not rewarded and form is not acted upon.

this isnt going to be pretty.

when you consider some of the players that are in the squad today that were added in the summer - Lovren, Lallana, Lambert, Markovic, Manquillo - i think we are all hoping for a result today dispite them.

We've spent **** loads of cash yet our teams best players are still Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho, Henderson..............
