What a ridiculous statement that is.
We're turning into Arsenal where trying to win something doesn't count for anything.

What if Sakho plays, dominates we keep a clean sheet and that helps us in the PL?
What if Markovic starts, tears it up and builds on his last 2 sub appearances which means we have more attacking options and crucially can rest Sterling?
What if Can bosses the game in central midfield with Gerrard not starting?
Balotelli might score, hell he might get 3 if we create the same chances as Sunday.
What if Borini plays, scores which means we get the £14m off someone in Jan that allows us to buy a GK, CF or whoever.

Wednesday's game is ridiculously important for dozens of reasons.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I just can't see us winning this.

Rodgers is a position now where whatever he does will be wrong, which is part of the reason I think he'll be sacked but that's for the other thread.

our so called strongest side is all overthe place, the squad players out of form or favour and we don't seem to have any youngsters on the fringes to come in

I have no idea what team we will start, or even should start and I just can't see us being up for it....****ing hell if we couldn't get up for the first half at home to Basel I a big European cup night, I can't see the players being anything other than flat for an midweek away game to Bournemouth.

If it was me, I'd prob go with

Jones....I've been one that's called for mignolet to be dropped so I stand by that
Manquilo, not sure where Johnson is on injury as not had chance to catch up but I'd start manquillo anyway
      Moreno
      Sakho...he's back isn't he?
      Skrtel

Can....needs games, I'm unsure about him, but if he's not up to playing against Bournemouth then why the **** have we signed him
      Lucas....shouldn't have been dropped yesterday
      Henderson

Markovic, like can, needs a start and minutes and if he can't produce against Bournemouth again why has he been signed
Lallana....coutinho is looking very poor and sterling needs a rest.

And finally....if it was me, despite not rating him at all, I'd start borini. Whatever I think of him he really should have been playing these past few weeks or more because at least he would give us some movement which ight make it easier for our midfield, rather than the static ballotlelli or lambert

Mignolet/Johnson/Enrique/lovren/dropped and sterling/gerrard rested as opposed to being dropped.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

        Fulton
        Manquillo Toure Sakho Moreno
        Rossiter Lucas
        Markovic Lallana Can
        Ojo

Why not? Give me one good reason? That team won't look any better if you put more 'senior' players in. In fact, it will probably look worse.
        One tit for another.

I'd like to see more of the players that I think should have hand more game time, Can, Markovic and Lallana. And drop some of the players who have been so poor recently Lovren and Allen.

I'd give something like this a try:

          ---------------Jones-------------
          Manquillo Toure Skrtel Moreno
          --------Lucas----Can------------
          Sterling----Lallana----Markovic
          ------------Balotelli-------------

I think we need to play with a striker as frustrating as Balotelli is he had some decent chances yesterday, put a decent amount of movement around him and hopefully that would give us some attacking threat. Keep Lucas and Can in disciplined roles protecting what is probably our best but still extremely shaky back four.

Thankfully I am travelling so won't get to see the match just the result and reaction
In my view that's probably our strongest side. I'd move Markovic up alongside Balotelli and it's a toss up between Can and Henderson in midfield.

Unfortunately Rodgers being Rodgers he isn't going to pick this team even though the League Cup is an ideal game in which to try it out

Put out a side that will win please.

Plenty of players in the squad who need a game.
            Forwards.......

I think we will win this due to our superior technical quality. Against Leicester and Stoke, we eventually got the upper hand due to that, and I think it will be similar. Not worried about this game.

It's our work rate, desire, formation, team selection & tactics i'd worry about more so than technical quality. Bournemouth are actual a decent side.

I'd save Lucas tbh. Sakho & Skrtel at CB. Drop Skrtel and play Toure with Sakho on the weekend.

I'd play Enrique & Manquillo who both had a rest.

I'd play Allen & Can in midfield with maybe Henderson if needs be. Drop Allen on the weekend. Gerrard obviously rested. Markovic would play, Lambert to start and I'd consider Mario who likely needs games & will be suspended soon anyway.

                    Jones

                    Manquillo - Skrtel - Sakho - Enrique
                    - Allen - Can
                    - Markovic Coutinho
                    - Lambert - Balotelli
                    Forwards.......

I think Skrtel & Toure were playing good together with Lucas aswell.. looked a decent trio. Sakho IMO should playing vs Bournemouth but not ready to start vs Arsenal, just too soon for him. Chap has hardly any game time.

Allen is atrocious as is Enrique and should never be a starter IMO but Can is perfect for our side energy, mobility and a physical presence. Lallana & Markovic hopefully will get starts.

This will be a tough game.

Skipper Steven Gerrard, striker Mario Balotelli and defender Martin Skrtel are all just one yellow card away from a suspension.

He's doing my head in at this point.

No Markovic? No Can? If he's still here at the weekend and they don't start he's done in my eyes.. What is he picking players based on?

I thought same on Johnson. I am just passing it on in good faith. Bound to be wrong at some point
