For me we outplayed them for the majority of the game. Especially the first half. We had 27 shots and only 10 of those on target! That's 17 missed opportunities! Some fell to coutinho who has a hard time scoring from distance. A couple fell ti gerrard who had weak & easy ****s for the keeper to deal with. He had one shot he did hit well towards the bottom right but the keeper saved that one. Lucas had a couple, one curled agonisingly wide. He is not best known for his long shots. These attempts were created from out wide pasing the ball square or cut backs. If at least 2 of those shots went in it would have been a completely different game & outcome.
We need to practice that passage of play (passing square/cutting back & taking a long shot) as someone said a few posts ago that arsenal sat deep & sterling had no space to run into. If this is where we are creating chances & shooting opportunities we need to become more effecient/clinical in taking these chances. 17 opportunities is plenty to get an extra 2 goals from IMO.
Say we're 1-0 up, other team has to come out & try score so we then have more space up top to play into. Or they can sit back try not to concede again. We then have our square balls/cut backs to try get another goal. As long as we can score we will more often than not walk away with the 3 points & less pressure on our defence. However if teams feel we have no goal threat it will encourage them to attack us, pegging our dodgy defence back & put us under pressure. My point is we need to get those long shots from around the box working!

So really that's it for him, he'll be out the door sharpish, and we'll need a new keeper in Jan.

Timing of it all is odd too, he keeps playing him till he begins to show signs of better form, then he's out, probably for good.

Wonder if the Chavs will take him as part of a Chzech offer, they'd have the two young Belgium keepers working together, mates.

Although, i'm afraid that even if Chavs let Chzech go, he'd probably have better offers than us.

We are terrible in both boxes but we're (or were in this game) generally excellent at everything in between. I don't hold out much hope of Rodgers/us/anyone being able to sort the defence out completely, but with a decent striker we would've walked that.

Their first goal was bloody typical but their second was just **** defending - there's one striker in the box and 3 of you there. How basic can you get

Yup their 2nd goal was a shambles! 3 vs 1 should have been easy to mark out! Toure was left in no mans land, didnt close out the cross & didnt mark giroud. Skrtel probably should have marked giroud. Sakho could have marked either the near post or giroud. Was plenty to cover either of those!
I really think we need a defensive coach in, wouldn't neccessarily rectify all our defensive errors but at least it may help improve the organisation at the back & reduce the amount conceded.

if I had been there, I would have done exactly that. I'm truly awful on ice, which makes it look less deliberate when I do trip people up on purpose. got 3 a few years ago at Hampton court ice rink, one was a kid.
