They were awful for most of the match, we were very good for most of it. It's still not quite working but Borini's athleticism really helped us make space for Markovic and Coutinho (and Gerrard to some degree). The defending for the goal was comical, but the volley by Markovic that hit the post was top draw. Balotelli offers us nothing, we need to get rid in Jan.

We have to get clinical. Should been four or five clear. We played well. Confidence is so important. Markovic has it and looks a real player. Balotelli has none. If anyone can't see its down to confidence they need their head read. Lucas played well. Just missing the goals.

Markovic looked much much better wide right than in the middle. You search for 20 years to find a winger and then move him in to the middle of the pitch once their left back gets sent off. Mastery
