The first half of this season hasn't been poor because of the new signings, it was squarely on Rodgers tactical stubbornness which he only decided to alter once we were out of the Champions League

We brought 9 players in during the summer and 6 are solid additions who should be good Liverpool players for years to come.

Lovren, Lambert and Balotelli was where we fell down imo although I understand why Lambert was brought in (for the type of game where we can't break packed defences down like Chelsea at Anfield last season).

If we're going to have a fourth striker for those situations I'd prefer a player who's younger, faster, taller and better in the air.

Of these three we should get most of our money back when we sell two of them. The odd one out is Lovren who we'll probably take a big loss on if we decide to get rid of him

I mostly agree with the individual players, but I still don't think we've turned any corner. Swansea is the only match we've looked decent in recently. The goal of this year from management should have been to finish top 4. We'll be lucky to qualify for any European competition because we signed a lot of long term prospects. Our only chance in the second half is if Sturridge comes back, stays healthy, and plays as he did last year. No one else has been able to do that so I don't really expect him to. Especially give them long break.

I think a lot of the players will turn out to be solid contributors, but none have shown me enough to think they'll take us back to the level we were at last year. They aren't new Gerrards or Suarezs. The only potential one of those we have right now is Sterling.

Lazar Markovic lacks real pace? I don't think so

Balotelli is just ****, its not a confidence issue, the goals won't pour in if he gets one. He just isn't intelligent or willing enough to make runs in behind and his technical ability is hugely overrated.

Personally i would have thought a 16 million left back could use his other foot occasionally. I'm not writing him off atm but i think the one-footedness will limit his development and continue to cost goals. Offensively he's a beast, blessed with searing pace.

Manquillo was a good move, very good value imo.

Can is superb value, can't believe we signed the u21 German captain for 10mil.

Lovren doesn't seem to fit. don't think he will save his career here.

              Balo is making progress.

I no longer hate lovren. He may yet be useful.

The new boys are looking better and better.

Lovren played one pass today that staggered me

                I actually LOL'd

There aren't many in this squad I'd be looking to sell. Borini, Lambert, Jones and Johnson maybe.

The summer signings are certainly looking a lot better.

Add Mario too. I like him but we can do better. Cut losses and buy another striker.

Yep, we've finally got a squad where it's not like yeah get rid of that 10 and get this 10 in! At ****ing last, after god knows how many years of trying. I'd happily see the whole summer budget lashed on a striker and CM.

                              Definitely.

The centre mid thing is a bit of a riddle - although neither are specialist DMs a pairing of Henderson and Can is a really exciting prospect (kind of sharing the sitting duties) and Lucas' renaissance makes it even tougher, but I would like to see us buy a monster CM.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
