    Aston Villa (a) build up.....

With Southampton playing Newcastle away and Arsenal playing Man City - and even United playing at QPR to be honest - then this is another potential chance for us to make ground on our rivals.

Aston Villa are on the ropes and watching them, they just don't seem to be able to score goals at the moment. They do always seem to be able to raise their game when the bigger named teams come to town. I suspect Lambert will almost be happier playing LFC as he would if he was playing someone like Burnley.

We just need to start the game well - like we did at Sunderland - and take our chances when created. That is the big thing.

Hopefully Sterling will come back into the fold - and if we could possibly have Sturridge on the bench as well then that would be amazing.

A win against Villa and we can park our league campaign for a week or two and get down to 3 cup games. A win and dropped points by our rivals will do our confidence no harm at all - and hopefully we can take that into the Chelsea game.....

I hope to see a flat back four return eventually but for me, this isn't the game to be changing our formation right now. If Villa play 3 up front then 2 of those players will always drift wide so Sakho and Can will need help from their full backs throughout the game.

    I would like to see:

    ------------------------------MIGNOLET-----------------------------

    ---------KING EMRE-----------SKRTEL---------SAKHO--------------

    MARKOVIC---------HENDERSON-------LUCAS--------------MORENO

    ------------------------------COUTINHO-----------------------------

    ------------------BALOTELLI---------------STERLING----------------

Tough enough (have a tough PL schedule with WHU, Southampton, Spurs and City on the horizon). Sterling is back for this one. Not sure about Balotelli, but hopefully we can get a win and push on

Sterling will come in and do what he would have earlier in the season if he wasn't rested for the league cup.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It will be a pickle to fit Coutinho/Gerrard/Sterling into the team, I thought Borini helped upfront with his movement as well. Maybe Coutinho and Gerrard behind Sterling.
              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Lambert seems to do well against Rodgers. As mentioned they raise their game for the big boys & Benteke is a handful when on his game and the pace of Weimann & Agbonlahor can cause problems on their day.

But they are missing Vlaar at the back, as well as Clark who's been the best defender in his absence. So a low ranking club missing it's two best defenders should really be taken to the cleaners.

If we start with a high intensity and create chances we will hammer these.
                Forwards.......

depends on how much training raheen does this week imo or how bad gerrard's injury is

probably the same lineup as vs. sunderland and raheem to come on if need be

Replace Balo with Borini to start and i would be happy with that... with all this flank Borini gets he works hard and could tire their backline out, replace him with Balo in the 70th and let Balo rip em into it cameo style...

                      I'd like to see
                      Mingolet
                      Can Skrtel Sakho
                      Manquillo Hendo Lucas Moreno
                      Markovic Coutinho
                      Sterling.

                      I've a feeling we'll see -
                      Mingolet
                      Lovren Skrtel Sakho
                      Can Hendo Lucas Moreno
                      Markovic Coutinho
                      Sterling

Maybe Hendo wide and Can central. Either way I think Rodgers is desperate to bring Lovren back now he's fit and Can is undroppable at the moment.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
