    CC: Liverpool vs Chelsea

Tue 20th Jan, Anfield; 7.45pm kickoff

    Live on Sky Sports 1

Unfortunately Ibe is definitely cup tied for this and the FA Cup game on Saturday.

I can see Rodgers going in with last Saturday's team and changing players for the FA Cup match.
    One tit for another.

Is Gerrard in the mix for this or is he still out?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Yep, we need to make it Anfield South again.

A strong team for this one, with changes against Bolton. We've built up some consistency and confidence with a core group of players, so we might as well stick with that for the two big games tomorrow and next week.

Same team as against Aston Villa, maybe Lallana in for Borini with Sterling back up top.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Quite looking forward to this. Over two legs we'd be expected to get beat (by neutrals), as a competition you're not too disappointed if you get put out, but if we win it will be great.

Curious to see if Chelsea field a full strength team. Can see Remy scoring over the two legs.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think he's slipped out of contention for this one.

I want as strong a side as possible.

I was listening to The Anfield Wrap Pod and they made a point of maybe Coutinho needing a break. I think we were rubbish against LCFC because of it being one too many games and not enough rest.

I can't see how the same team can attack at the tempo we like. I worry we will be flat and out of gas. We have enough players to juggle if needs be. Either way, definitely a weakened team for Bolton.
                    Forwards.......

Chelsea don't have a 2nd string really, they have quality in reserve so I think it has to be our best XI to stand any chance.

Aye best XI and to stand a chance think we need a win, 2-0 would be nice.

Not gonna be easy for us this one, but we've done these in cup games before, we really need a CL tie type atmosphere and a quick start would be ideal.

Am I right in thinking Sturridge could be on the bench for this?! Or was that the second leg.

I think Chelsea will play something very close to first choice and then rest a load against Bradford at the weekend.

it is a big pity that they didn't get a tough FA Cup game......i think Mourinho will want to beat us big time so I wouldnt be at all surprised to see Chelsea play a very strong team. I can possibly see Cech and Filipe Luiz start for them.....and maybe Remy / Drogba in place of Costa - but apart from that, he will play his best team.........if he rested, say Matic, Terry, Fabregas and Hazard - then that could be Brendans teamtalk done for him for free!!! Also, if we were to take any lead at all after the first leg then we will have a brilliant chance because maybe he will rest people for the 2nd leg considering that they have Man City in the league a few days afterwards.....

LFC have started to play a lot better lately - but if you look at the Sunderland, Swansea and Villa games recently, we need to take our chances. We won't get as many....

To have a chance at the Bridge in the second leg we need a two goal lead from this game.

We don't have a good record against that Portugese tosser but we're in form so we have a chance It's a pity Lallana's out as he's a real miss but a forward line of Borini (who it looks like we're stuck with until the end of this season and possibly beyond), Sterling and Coutinho should serve us well.

I'll go with a one goal lead at half-time and a 3-1 win at full-time.

That will make the second leg very interesting indeed
