You would hope so but the FA's level of incompetence knows no bounds, so I will believe it when I see it.

Also if they do take action they need to look at both incidents as both are straight red cards for violent conduct IMO, so he should be punished for both independently

Cracking game, just hope it doesn't knock the wind out our sales for the next few games. Can seeing everyone being a bit lethargic for the West Ham game, need to hit the ground running and just get over it i guess?

Hurts to admit it but, taking out his biased vitriol, he was correct. We played well but they played within their means and in control of the tie.
I see what he's getting at, in that they were never in danger of going out at any point in terms of the scoreline.

But over the tie they weren't really in control in terms of play. That their keeper was man of the match in both legs say it all.

The truth is they scraped through. And Cundy is a ****.

Also I find the Costa incident makes this defeat more difficult to take. The guy should have seen red 15 mins in, Chelsea would have had to play the remaining 75mins with 10 men (possibly also extra time as well). Playing against 10 men for that long would have made it a different game. Chelsea would have inevitably parked the bus and played for a 0-0 which maybe they would have got, but looking at how tired we were in extra time, if they had played so long with 10 men you can imagine how they would have been. I'm not saying the result would have definitely been different but you would have had to have fancied our chances. Instead these pricks will be playing at Wembley and will probably win the thing which seems really unjust to me at the moment.

No team was in control of that tie. It was pretty much end to end for the most part, LFC edged it in the second half at Anfield, Chelsea in the second half at the Bridge.

Overall LFC created the better chances and in terms of head to head I feel it was all about Sterling v Hazard and both looked the most likely to cause havoc.

In the other key area, I think Coutinho far exceeded Fabregas/Oscar as coordinator in chief and that's probably why we edged it over the two legs. Fabregas & Oscar have the guile but they don't have that little shift in direction that takes them past markers.

Elsewhere on the pitch id say if it was a boxing match it'd be a tie.

Exiled, I agree Costa sending off would have been a game changer, but tbh we created enough chances to mean that shouldn't have mattered.

I really hope Sturridge does t get injured again as I can't stand the thought of banging my head against a brick wall time and again as we miss chance after chance.

True but those incidents really pissed me off and reinstated my level of hatred for Chelsea back to the c2005-2009 levels. It may be irrational but I don't care

I really hope whoever gets through from the other semi wins it.

The away goal rule should be scrapped as it gives an unfair advantage to the home team imo. Potentially, they get to play for 120 minutes at home. That's simply not fair.

Imagine Coutinho feeding Hazard and Costa instead of Fabregas. Chelsea would be even more dangerous than they are. Mourinho gave Coutinho a loving stroke on the back when he was taking a throw in too.

In reality though, we scored 1 goal in 210 minutes of football. So we didn't deserve to go through. Brendan saying we were the better side and that their goalie put them into the final doesn't really cut it either to be honest - their goalie is part of their team so they were the better team. We should have scored 3 in anfield and that would have been enough to put us through.

                            But we didn't.

The upside is that there are plenty of positives. Our defense is starting to look very good. Hopefully Sakho isn't out injured now because the Sakho - Skrtel - Can trio at the back is looking promising. When i first saw the 3 at the back, i was hoping that it would be a temporary solution because Moreno needed time to become a top quality left back from a defensive point of view. But maybe it will work long term. It gets more of our midfielders in the game and as a consequence we keep more control of the game.....

If Coutinho, Sterling, Markovic and Henderson can all add goals to their game then we could have a league winning team. They are all at the age where it will hopefully come together and click.

I thought that Balotelli and Sturridge might click together and maybe they still will. But in the summer i would be very tempted to offload Lambert, Borini and Balotelli and buy 2 strikers.

Such a pity Alexi Sanchez didn't join us.
I think it's a very valid point, considering goals were at a premium for both sides over the two legs, and the fact it's rare for a keeper to get 2 man of the match awards for a two legged semi final, it's quite right to say the difference was indeed Courtouis. imo.

don't believe it was a pen at all. Given where the contact was and the direction Costa was moving, any touch that disrupted his path would have forced him away from Skrtel - his dive was across the front of Skrtel in the direction of the contact.

also - we had a free kick or a corner in the first half on our right, the ball was whipped in and it looked like Skrtel was clattered as he went to head the ball. There wasn't one replay and neither of the commentators even mentioned how he went down like a sack of spuds in the box - did anybody see it?

They do, but the away team then has a chance to get a more valuable away goal meaning the home side would have to score twice to avoid defeat.

Personally, I think they should scrap away goals. Home teams shouldn't be encouraged to play defensively. It gives us something skewed towards the defense vs attack training exercise, rather than a pair of properly balanced games. I say just go straight to pens after 90.
