My Bitter mate is dreading this

He reckons with all the chances we're creating & missing we are due to give someone a thumping soon....

The bluenoses I know are massively delusional and do not hold a balanced view point and spout bias drivel continuously. So much so that I have to block them from being able to contact me for the whole weekend.

I reckon the truth lies somewhere in the middle and this will be a tough game but we'll edge it. Worry about Gerrard if he's in midfield.

I really hope Rodgers isn't thinking of shunting Henderson to rwb if Markovic fails a fitness test. If he does fail and Rodgers decides to start Sturridge then surely it makes more sense to keep Henderson in midfield and move Sterling to rwb, no?

There will be no guard of honour awaiting Steven Gerrard as he leads Liverpool out at Goodison Park for what’s likely to be the final time.

Any grudging respect for his glittering career will remain well hidden. The welcome afforded to the Reds skipper will be predictably hostile.

The vitriol aimed in his direction from the Gwladys Street will be loud and constant. Gerrard wouldn’t have it any other way.

This is the fixture Gerrard cherishes above all others. One stop off on the long goodbye he has been eagerly anticipating. Barring a meeting between the clubs in the Europe League over the coming months, this will be the last chapter in his remarkable derby story. Los Angeles awaits.

In 32 previous appearances against Everton he has scored 10 goals. Ian Rush is the only Liverpool player in history to have been more prolific against the Blues.

Gerrard has been on the losing side on just five occasions - playing the starring role in an era of sustained dominance for Liverpool in the most played derby in English league football.

He had made his mark. “I felt like I was floating on air,” he said.

Five months later the emotions were very different as he was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Kevin Campbell, whose goal settled the contest at Anfield.

“It was a complete nightmare. It’s difficult to put into words that feeling you have,” he said. “I was trying to impress too much.”

Over time he learned to channel that fierce competitive streak correctly and simply hurt the Blues by rifling one into the top corner.

March 2012 was the crowning glory as he ruined David Moyes’ 10th anniversary celebrations with the first hat-trick by a Liverpool player at Anfield since Fred Howe in 1935.

Some players wilt under pressure but the bigger the stage, the more intimidating the atmosphere, Gerrard comes alive.

The stick only serves to drive him on to greater heights. The fire still burns bright. Sixteen years ago Gerrard was a derby hero. It would be fitting if he signed off in the same fashion.
