Watching MOTD just now, loving how we worked the free kick, two men in the middle of the wall pushing it open for Balo to blast a low one and Lallana clearly aware to what was coming, as were two or three other LFC players who would have been first to the ball.

I think I read it was after Manchester United's game tomorrow night. Cannot think where I read it though.

The sixth-round draw takes place on Monday night (February 16) at Deepdale, where Preston North End will be hosting Manchester United for the final fifth-round game of the weekend.

It will take place at 7.35pm, just before kick-off, and will be officiated by none other than England manager Roy Hodgson.

I see people are giving Mig credit and voting him in top three of the march thread. Undoubtedly he had a good game but top three?

The way I see it is that he did what he should be doing and that he has been so crap for so long he stood out. I still think we need better.

In essence, last night every player did what they should be doing. We beat a lower table prem team away from home. Should we cancel the MOTM thread?

My view of a MOTM performance is one who consistently performs to a high standard - which he did last night. He made a save that kept us in it and constantly took the pressure off, the spell at 1-1 just after we scored was particularly tricky. Palace didn't smell a weakness in him, and that's what took the fight out of them.

Obviously to get a stay of execution he needs to perform like that for the rest of the season. No one would argue with that.

Same could be said of Joe Allen. A £15 CM should be keeping the ball, passing to team-mates and trying to support attacks. I thought he was pretty good, but not fantastic. But you've got to pick three people who are all just doing their jobs.

but if you say he did what he should be doing then there should be no man of the match as every player should be doing what they should,like you said maybe he did stand out after a crap spell but even then surely a player should still get some praise for a good performance even if it was amongst a run of good performances.
