I'll also add to a bit of a stirrer. Sturridge has only got involved because once he realised Henderson wasn't taking it he wanted it.

Personally I felt both Sturridge and Henderson had poor games so I'm glad neither took it haha

It's a nothing incident really, but if Hendo had been strong and owned the situation either by keeping the ball or making it his decision to give it to Balo then this wouldn't have happened. He ended up looking weak and like a little kid being bullied at school.

There was a closeup on Henderson and you could lipread him saying "I'm wearing the ****ing armband" and he gave it to Balotelli to take it.

Balotelli is a proven penalty taker, much ado about nothing really. The team and the result is what matters (like they always say, ad nauseum, after each and every game)

Gerrard knows full well how to deal with the media, he's done exactly that for us and England over the years. That was daft tonight IMO, for whatever reason. And after he said this after the Spurs game too:

“I’m sure he’ll get the chance to take some penalties for the club.

“The manager’s told me if I’m not on the pitch he’ll take them.

At the end of the day the right person took the penalty, scored it, and we won. Let's all move on.

In future our pens should be the highest up this list who's on the pitch at the time:

Gerrard
Balotelli
Can (German, and increasingly awesome)
Everyone else
Sturridge (we know he's bad at them)
Henderson (never scored one?)
Sterling (you've got to have a decent clean shot to score a pen, another michael owen type penalty taker)
