Bring Back Roy Evans??? You Decide.....

Read something similar on RAWK and would be interested to see peoples thoughts on here:

Should Roy Evans return to Liverpool?

Not as manager of course - but as Rafa's assistant in some capacity.

    IMO

Pros - Knows the club inside out, the expectations of the fans and the style of football thats expected. Could offer Rafa guidance and a wealth of experience in English football as to what is needed to, at the very least regularly challenge for the league.

Cons - I honestly cant think of one at this stage.

I dont see what we would have to lose, and it would be a win-win for Rafa, be it short term or otherwise.

What is it i'm missing that would make this a bad idea????

    no

Bringing in someone else only shows that Rafa may be struggling. He has to fight this himself unless HE wanted Evans

Good point Kopdan, IF Evans should be brought in it would have to be under other circumstances and preferably in the summer. And maybe Evans doesn´t fancy the stress now.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Thats a good point and tbh thats what i was getting at.

Perhaps a question more to the point is - SHOULD Rafa be thinking along these lines??

          No

Its not that bad yet. The day he does this, the day I start looking at his odds for the sack.

            Hooray! Joint managers again!!

Evans would've been good as rezzie manager but Rafa doesn't need the kind of help that has been intimated.

The manager must be allowed to manage in my view.

He either has the job or he is fired, is the way I see it.

Bringing someone in over his head to "help" him only undermines his authority and would lead to a justified and immediate resignation.

I dont think Joe meant joint managership.

If Evans came in, it would be a coaching role. But lets face it, Evans has been out of the club a while and things are a bit different now to what it was.

Yep agree with all points above, shouldn't be brought in.

Would be nice to him at the club, but it would undermine Rafa's position, so no.

I didnt mean joint managers - jeez not again!!

I meant in an advisory role of some kind to be honest - as an example, perhaps similar to what Sir Bob done when Kenny first started. That said though, ressie manager was a decent shout.

The more i think about it tbh, the worse of an idea it sounds, interesting comments all the same.

                      useless info snippet time:

Something about Roy Evans that people may or may not know, is he refused to come to LFC after being ousted in favour of Houllier, and only started coming back again when Rafa took over.

For those of you who didn't already know

Yes. I'd love to have him on the coaching staff.

Ok understood. But really speaking it'd be fairly insulting for Rafa to be expected to take advice from Roy.

The Kenny-Bob situation was very different with a rookie manager having the advice of a legendary manager who'd won it all.

This way you'd have a successful manager taking advice from someone who has a much less impressive CV than the person he was advising.

Its a new era, and we cant keep going back, the only reason I would bring Evans in, is if he was willing to be a coach and do things Rafa's way, not the way of old, because if we arent doing things Rafa's way, he may aswell leave.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                              * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs
