roy the manager did a vast amount of damage to our club by letting things slide off the field and recruiting the wrong type of player. He is not a good manager. BUT he seriously dragged the club back towards some respectability after greame suness had single-handedly dismantled everything good about the club

I believe that 'the team selection and tactics' rumour is an urban legend and didn't the 'shagging of his daughter' come from Collymore's autobiography? I personally wouldn't take Collymore's version of anything.

I genuinely believe his players respected him but there were some deficiencies in the squad which stopped the team reaching the levels that it probably should.

Roy Evans' team played some sublime stuff at times, often against the bigger sides, but then let themselves down against teams like Coventry and Leicester. In the end, he probably took the team as far as he could and was badly advised in venturing into the joint managership with Houllier. He should have just made a clean break.
