Did anyone watch the Liverpool Ladies v Sunderland game?

I've only watched the highlights and want to avoid the usual sexist clichés and patronisation so I'd say apart from the weak handshakes at the start it wasn't too bad considering. Physically it's not as hard as you'd expect but the quality of football is excellent. Satara Murray shouldn't really have given away the penalty but seemed excellent otherwise and scored a measured goal in the general pandamonium of the Sunderland box. Our keeper missed one decent cross but charged right out of her box to sweep a ball that could have been picked up by a defender so she's right up in Mig's league. An unlucky start to the season but I'm sure Matt Beard (our coach, it's a real one) will take us forward to winning the league again.

Sorry, we lost 2-1. Decent enough game though. Just don't expect those clattering challenges you see in men's football.

Two big differences spring to mind.

1. I didn't see any of them call the ref a ****ing cunt at any point so it's either well mannered or just not out for a Friday night's drinking in Plymouth.
2. When there's a goal all the cheers are an octave above the one's you usually hear at a match.

Steve, the commentator, is finding the adjustment hard. He'll have to get out of the habit of saying "That's the best cross, in women's football, you'll see all season" etc.

Despite their two back to back titles I think they'll struggle badly this season

Lost a few of their better players to big spending rivals & not strengthened enough in depth
