21 points or possibly the sack since the aim was to be in the CL by the end of season 3.....

Wouldn't getting into it last season a year early give him enough credit in the bank for FSG to give him one more season?

I'd have thought so. Plus loosing our best player didn't help.

Well the aim was steady progress year on year. Not had that this year despite a massive outlay. Let me make it clear, I want to keep Rodgers. He has numerous faults, but I think he's learning and a better manager now than what we got when he joined. Our previous managers got worse year on year after a peak.

We know he wanted Lallana, Lovren and Lambert. What have they done? Nothing is the answer. I could make a case for each if I was generous, but let's be honest for one reason or another they haven't yet delivered.

Here Brendan, here's another £50m. Fill your boots. Would they be confident? Would they be confident he can improve the other signings made by the committee? Whose been a success? The biggest one has been the midfielder playing in defence. The one after that has cost us goals at important times in the last two league games.

We spent £18m on a French international centre back and then canned him because he thought he couldn't do a job, before spending £23m on a replacement who did an even worse job. Maybe an issue with tactics or players elsewhere Brendan? I mean, FFS even when playing three defenders and Sakho injured, Lovren still couldn't get in the team against Arsenal.

Rodgers likes teams to play from the back & cope under pressure, our back line is littered with players who can't play that way. Reverting to three and sticking Can there was the only thing that had us looking half decent again. Meanwhile we try and play in an aggressive fashion in midfield with the midget Joe Allen and a half fit Lucas v Arsenal and our best midfielder at RWB.

Meanwhile we repeatedly went with a slow and lazy Mario/Rickie and or Fabio when for months people wondered why we didn't give Sterling a crack. All that and I'm a supporter of Rodgers. Imagine what little snides could do who have a pathetic agenda because he's not got us winning the league yet.

They knew Champions League was never on this season, Brendan will be fine. If he can get the FA Cup, I reckon he's performed above FSG expectation and will be fine for another season

Or maybe FSG are not of the Arsenal mindset and not celebrating 4th as if is winning a cup. Maybe they would be content with.... Well... Winning a cup.

Or maybe they are seeing the bigger picture and know we are making steady progress given the difficulties we face in the transfer market and the financial wealth of the teams above us.

Will have to disagree with that. No point moving the goalposts, and I'm not suggesting that failure should automatically mean the sack, but surely top 4 was the minimum laid down, both from the owners and Rodgers' perspective prior. The less said about our European exploits the better. But finishing the season outside the spots, even with the Cup, would be seen as disappointing.

                        to a point.

I think there was an underlying fear of how we'd function after Suarez' exit, but given how the manager was backed and supported, a top 4 finish was expected (not necessarily in 2nd and certainly not winning the thing, but definitely in the CL spots). There were plenty on here who speculated we'd be a better side for Luis' exit.

I would disagree I don't think we expected to do as well as last season but I think most people were thinking we would make the top 4
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I was going by an interview Brendan gave a while back, but I might be wrong. If Suarez had stayed, top 4 would have been a minimum - but without him and the introduction of new players, losing the two main goalscorers form the team and having to improvise with a new system to compensate, I think objectives were redrawn.

He'll be fine for next season. Whether that's a success or the right thing is another issue altogether
