    I want barton

    A colossal midfield performance again today VS Fulham.

    He's shown everything a midfielder needs week in, week out. He's made a goal today by hounding down a fulham midfielder, winning the ball, driving into the box and finding his man.

    He's scored one with another driving run from the midfield and he sloted home nicely and calmly.

    I'm forever going on about (if Gerrard gets injured) our total lack of a player like this.

    He would be great to have in our squad. people will say, we have to buy a shoe in first team starter but the fact is that there AREN'T many midfielders out there that are better than the likes of Stevie and Xabi.

    We need four quality midfielders (central) and Barton would complete the foursome nicely.

    Barton for who though? As a squad player when we have so little money? I'd suggest our money is better spent on wingers

      We need 2 attacking and 2 defensive midfielder mate. Barton would do nicely. As a squad player of course, mainly in case Stevie gets injuried.

      I think he has a clause in his contract that would allow him to come to us for a few mil...

        I've been a big fan of Joey Barton for a few years now, he's exactly the player we need, someone to put the boot in and show a bit of fight, he's got quality to go with it as well.

        Poor man's Gerrard? 95% centre midfielders are a 'poor mans Gerrard', does it make them bad players? NO

            Playing well in a toss team does not mean he's good enough for LFC.

              So just because you play well for a smaller team automatically makes you not good enough for a bigger team?
              Joey Barton IS good enough for us, i'm convinced of it.

                Well I'm convinced he's not. I'm sorry, he's mediocre. He offers nothing which we don't already have. We need someone with imagination, spark, creativity, not another Leonhardson.

                    But Bob, you watch Bellamy for Blackburn, he had bags of fight in him. That's not what we're missing, we're missing attacking options and someone with something different.

                      I've seen him produce some brilliant pieces of skills, some lovely whipped balls into the box, some blockbuster shots etc, i think the lad just needs a bigger club to showcase his talents.
                      He's 23/24 and will only get better.

                        Exactly Bob, nothing better in the footballing sense than seeing
                        a player run his balls off game in game out, the lads a proper fighter,
                        born and bred scouser, run though a brick wall for us.

                          He's woefully short on confidence. Bellamy is one of those players that could pick up with a few goals, and get the bit between his teeth. At the moment he looks like he wants to hide in every game he plays. Its actually embarrassing watching him. I still have a flicker of hope for Bellers.

                              Be great to be able to stick Barton & Parker in the middle for us, just to shake up those current incumbents that currently occupy, and waste, our so called CM.

                              We have no-one that is able to get stuck in and put the frighteners in when on the attack and muscle our way through the middle, they all fell over when boro said boo to them today.
