Listen - we've done pennant to death on here. Some deluded souls think he'll come good but believe me when I tell you that he wont.

However - it's unfair to criticize Pennant today as the rest of the team were a ****ing disgrace with the possible exception of Agger; so for once let's lay off Pennant.

Not from me there wasn't. For me, he's been crap all his career, whether on loan at Bradford or wherever else he's been. I was horrified at this signing. This is as good as he gets. If he comes good then he will be defying the pattern of his career. Not impossible, but would YOU gamble 7 million on him doing so??

Pennant was by far the worst player on the pitch for me. If ever theres a day to point to his inadequacy its today. I truly hope I never see him in the side again. Comparisons were once made here between him and Nunez. I honestly don't see why these comparisons are invalid.

only thing i can say is he seems a player that needs to be confident to play well at all. with the entire team playing ****e it was always going to be hard to bed new players in. once the team starts playing better i think pennant will play better. no excuse for his lack of work ethic tho

If he'd been good elsewhere I think that argument might hold water, but no. He's only playing as well as he has always played.

And even if you're right, I've no truck with "confidence" players. They do my head in. I want players who do the business when the chips are down!
