    Clean Slate?

With Gerrard going & Rodgers fumbling into one disaster after another recently, I think this is an opportunity for FSG to wipe the slate clean so they can get their desired set-up with a DOF along with a top coach as the likes of Klopp & Ancellotti, at a push, Rafa would have no qualms with that kind of set-up.

Summat has to give as Rodgers for his will, is not someone who can get us over the finish line. I like his style of football but his decisions are baffling the **** out of me & others too.

Will there be a better opportunity to wipe the slate clean than this summer with some good managers available?
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

It is worrying how many times his tactics have been so poor. Constantly playing Gerrard at DM, other players out of position & no striker up top are all too familiar this season. It would all depend on who would be coming in for him, but if he did get sacked, IMO it really wouldn't be a surprise with the way the season has gone. So many pitiful displays & lack of any sort of balance and direction in the side.

If we could get Klopp i'd be happy with that, if not stick for one more season.

I would get rid of Rodgers and implement a sporting director or director of football. But finding a right dof is probably harder than finding a good manager because very few good dof's ever become available.

His job is to implement the football style, philosophy and tactical vision. Then he picks managers who can implement all that correctly. Its a really tough call because the dof runs the club all the way from the youth academy right through to the first team.

Even if managers go, the club philosophy stays the same so there isn't a complete overhaul of the club from top to bottom with every new manager. Where can you find people like that who have that much in depth knowledge about football and have probably played elite level football and also the administration of a running football club. A manager might stay 5 seasons but a dof might stay 15-20.

Cryuff isn't young enough for the job.

Isn't the dof from Sevilla rumoured to be in talks with us?

Was rumoured to be having talks with two Premier league clubs, us and Spurs.

Apparently his english lessons are well advanced, going by an interview he gave about how he has been taking english lessons for the past 6 to 9 months (and he bought an apartment in England which he stays in on a regular basis).

One interview also had comments about going around the PL grounds catching games this season.

Now it could well be that he is learning another language and getting familiar with teams etc to further improve his own skills, but seems a lot of work (especially living in England for periods of that time) if his intention is to stay in Spain full time.

His track record for Sevilla is pretty impressive though, and he is fluent in Spanish, German, and French already, so a working knowledge on english on top of that puts him in a position where he can personally converse with counter parts, agents, and players from all the top leagues.

Be very interesting if he was coming this summer as many of the managers who are available or who look that they will be available this summer are guys who have worked well at clubs that have an active DOF. And if we did get him and stuck with Rodgers, then it could well be the making of Rodgers as it would put a very experienced and proven DOF alongside him

He also has the pedigree in the role to warrant talking a long term punt on him. Could well be the sort of signing that would have the potential to be more important than the signing of any one player.

Yeah as much as I think the manager needs to go, the number one priority has to be getting the football structure around the manager spot on this summer.
