Spurs bid might mean everything, or nothing. As the Panel is independent, it should mean nothing. But who knows.
Read those rules, IF Spurs have bid and Burnley can prove this its relevant to their case

But, do they have to fulfill that bid if we pull out after the tribunal fee is set ? Must be something in place to stop bids being put in just to raise the price for another interested party ?

You cant pull out of a tribunal

        Its legally binding

I suspect the only way would be if he catastrophically failed the medical and even then you would require independent evidence

I always thought he would cost us between £5m-£7m back in April, and there's no reason to change that opinion at the moment. I never thought he would be free and I still think of him as an upgrade on Lambert, Borini and Balotelli.

He might cost on the higher end of my estimation now, thanks to Spurs. But the movement should be in the hundreds of thousands rather than millions.

Lec, can't look in detail at work, but what do those rules stipulate for a club that has had sizeable offers during the term of a contract and declined allowing the player to run down the contract? If you could bold that bit out please.

I think the uproar in here is ****ing hilarious

Either the lads good enough to be an upgrade or he isnt

People are now up in arms because he was an upgrade we were getting on the cheap, whereas now they are not sure whether he is actually better now we are having to pay a larger fee

It just says to me that peoples opinion of him was decidedly clouded

We can't pull out after the tribunal set his fee ? That's stupid then, so if a club bid 25mill but can't buy the player because the tribunal is just setting the fee for us to buy him, but that bid effects what we pay, it's mad, and wide open to abuse.

Hes going for a Tribunal record amount, absolutely no doubt about that in my mind, I think it will be £8-9 million

My money would be on that as well.
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

You cant pull out of the tribunal at all. Once you agree to take it to that then the judgement is final (I suspect you could appeal but the success of that is unlikely)

Is it that wide open to abuse, I dont think it is

Firstly lets look at the Ings case and take into account the rumours

Liverpool know his contract is expiring and bid £5 million to get it sorted prior to tribunal, this is knocked back

Spurs bid £12 million again hoping to get something tied up before the expiry, Burnley accept but player knocks them back

Liverpool will now negotiate with the player, they will be aware of what Spurs have bid and will roughly be able to guess the amount they will have to pay out

I would imagine once an application for tribunal has been submitted then all subsequent bids become irrelevant

I suspect Liverpool are fully aware of the amount they will end up paying or at the very least will have a ball-park figure (£8-9 million)

It's easy. Offer him 10k a week. If he takes it then super. If he refuses then we're in the clear. Then we can put our money to a ****ing first team striker! This club I swear..

Surely you are aware of the idea of value for money.

No matter what his value hes only value for money if he adds something to the team or is better than what we have

If he isnt either of them, then hes a waste of money (which is my view)

At £3 million, £5 million or £9 million thats the case imo

Of course we can, we just won't give him a contract.

I agree, he isn't, but if someone thinks he is better than what we have then it would be reasonable to consider how much better and whether the price justified that level of improvement.

Surely the contract has to be agreed before there is a tribunal?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
