    Scudded him last week.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Dont think thats fair. He was fine the week before and it was exactly the same situation.

Think its just a bad game, everyone has them. He is just consistent enough that we notice them.
      *Except Michael, who died.

Yup this. A bad day at the office, even real Ronaldo had them.

Not quite the same though in front of your own fans as opposed to a full Old Trafford with scummy Mancs screaming at you.

I should clarify though that i meant at the beginning of the game. He was shocking in the first 30 minutes. Worst he's played for us. The pace and tempo combined with the noise and atmosphere got to him IMO. Nothing to be ashamed of, its happened to a lot of players. He settled as the game went on.

Yep think it was not a bad performance at all, just one that was well below the high standard of performance he has been putting in of late.

He still got in a number of important blocks/interceptions/clearances during the game. One that sticks in the memory is when Manure were breaking and Lovern was caught for pace/out of position and Clyne came steaming in to jostle the attacker and end the attack.

When the replay was shown, Clyne was reacting to the threat and eating up the yards even before the attacker had gotten beyond Lovern. Was a lovely example of him anticipating the threat and busting a gut to make sure he was there to meet it.

i found this thread shamefully lurking on page six...

another great performance, rarely less that a 6 and often a steady 7.
looking much better going forward yet still covers his own arse if he loses possession or needs to get back.

                captain clyne not really...
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Any time he lost possession tonight his pace was sufficient to get him out of trouble. He's doing well without being spectacular.

Player of the season just for consistency. What a great player to have. Seems like a good bloke too.

Pretty much brought his Southampton form from the get go. Fantastic example of a player hitting the ground running at a new club.

Brings the same sort of high level consistency we had with Steve Finnan, but has more pace and aggression to his game. Mad levels of stamina as well.

His fitness levels and man strength must be through the ****ing roof.

Fit lad, doesn't stop. Can take a tackle, never moans. Gets forward, gets back just as quick. Covers other players.

Only thing lacking in him is the confidence to take defenders on. For me he crosses too early which isn't always a bad thing but sometimes just take the fella on, he's quick enough and has the brains to do it.

He's been a very good signing. You can count the number of poor games he's had on one hand. Mr Consistency.

And as said earlier in the thread, I think his poor games were not actually that bad, they just looked it for him due to the level of performance he normally puts in.

For any other player his poor performances would probably be a six out of ten performance.
