Lovern and Matip would be competing for the RCB slot and we would have Gomez and Ilori for the 4th and 5th CB back up slots. We would also have Lucas available as a stand in.


Given we have no European footy this season, that gives us six players to rotate for the two CB slots.


Of course if Sakho gets suspended/banned (think he has a hearing in the next few weeks) then we would need to start looking for another starter level CB.


For the FB slots if we had the starting lineup I posted, then we would have Flanagan, Moreno, Gomez, and Smith as the cover for the two starters. Again giving us six players to rotate for two positions.

With the exception of Gomez & possibly Flanno none of those would give me much confidence if we had a long term injury. And as far as CB goes only Lovren gives me much confidence.

And much as I dislike not being in one of the European cups next season, the reduction in games has to be something that is in our favour as it reduces the number of games players can get injured in, and the lack of games increases recovery time between domestic games. Not to mention gives Klopp more time with the players at the training ground.
