We are all looking for answers to our current woes. Is it down to rotation, is SG being played out of position. Is Sami passed it, whats gone wrong with Reina? Our wide men, Pennant & Gonzalez are the butt of most peoples anger at present & its true they've not set the world alight but I think the number 1 problem is up front.
We bought 2 new strikers in the summer, neither of whom for me have been great. I know Kuyt is popular but for me he's looked a bit limited. Sure he works hard but at the very top level I'm not sure that he's quite good enough. I'm not writing him off yet, he needs time to settle in but so to do Pennant & Gonzalez. For me, Kuyt's finishing needs to improve. He's missed key chances for us away from home this season. He's not alone but as our supposed top striker you'd expect him to put them away.
Against Chelsea he missed a couple of golden chances, particularly the one that hit the bar. Against Arsenal he had our best chance at 0-0 when he flicked the ball over the advancing keeper. Yesterday, again he missed our best chance. Think how differenr our season might be if 1 or 2 of those chances had gone in. Forme the key game was Chelsea. We played really well & had Kuyt have scored, I'm sure we would have got at least a point, if not 3.
I'm not blaming Kuyt for all our woes, far from it but he must take his share of blame, as too must Bellamy who has been equally shy in front of goal. But it does annoy me when people point out Pennant & Gonzalez for endless criiticism whilst Kuyt in particular & Bellamy are given a much easier ride.
