I thought Lovren was awful in the first half last night. He's terrifying. Skrtel hasn't been much better either. They're both too eager and too erratic - neither offers any kind of calmness either with or without the ball and I don't see any sort of partnership. I also think we're missing Sakho's ability to start attacks with his bold passing.

Yep, they're both **** footballers and if they continue to play together it will probably be Rodgers undoing.

Both were poor overall though Lallana had a good last 20 mins. Pass completion stats can be incredibly misleading when taken in isolation. I remember years ago Des Walker was the best passer of a ball in the premiership according to the stats - in fact he was a terrible passer of the ball, but knowing his limitations all he ever used to do is pass it 10 yards to Stuart Pearce at left-back.

If every player in our team had the sense Des Walker did we might get somewhere

I would agree, but the plan is to probably introduce Danny in at some point who is left footed. I could be wrong, maybe the idea was for Phil to cross in for Benteke on his stronger foot.

Based on the guidelines given in the summer there is no doubt that the goal should have been disallowed, but it wasn't and we benefited from it (if I was a Bournemouth fan I would be livid) but these things happen. It just shows the level of officiating isn't consistent and I suspect that will again be the case throughout the season.

You can clearly see Boruc making a move as he anticipates that Coutinho might connect with the ball. Therefore he's offside under this new interpretation.

You arrived at that conclusion during the goal itself or with the benefit of replays and two or three dozen articles by armchair analysts? In the heat of the moment when an instantaneous decision is required, the ref gave the benefit of the doubt to the attacking team. And rightly so.

My first instinct was that it wasn't a goal.

It's offside to me and the keeper is clearly influenced by Courinho all the way through the move. I want us to win, play well and score. We definitely benefited from some refereeing decisions.

If we were on the receiving end of both of those decisions we would all be raging.

He clearly goes for the ball and gets close enough to it to influence the GK that is enough for him to be deemed offside and the goal disallowed.

For me that is as clear an offside in those circumstances as you will see, it's a clear cut decision and the referee / linesman got it wrong.
