I was impressed by Bournemouth, if they can find goals from somewhere they could have a decent season.
We don't look fluent yet, that is quite obvious, but we have 6 points on the board and clearly have options in the squad this year to change things up as necessary.
I'm surprised we haven't given Ings or Origi any time on the pitch at all, I would like to see how we look with actual forwards next to Benteke rather than the likes of Ibe and Lallana who haven't impressed in the front 3 so far. I don't think they offer enough goal threat really, certainly in the form both have shown so far. I thought Lallana was a quality player before we signed him but he certainly needs to do more if he is to hold anything other than a backup place in this team long term. Ibe just has a lot to learn still.
Can did not have his best game at all, we lost a lot when Henderson came off I thought. Lovren and Skrtel do scare me, but despite dodgy moments 2 clean sheets out of 2 is at least an encouraging start for them this season on paper. I can handle them looking dodgy if the end result stays the same.
On the good side, Clyne is a proper right back, so good to have a decent dependable player out there at last. Gomez, well, what a signing he could turn out to be, £3m
Benteke I'm happy with for now, he definitely adds a different threat to our attack even if we haven't quite figured out how to maximise that yet. Milner, not 100% convinced by the exact role as we've seen it so far but regardless, happy enough with his contribution so far. It is quite definitely a positive imo that all our signings so far who we have seen a bit of are not appearing high on the "problem" list.
Work to do, no doubt at all, but at this stage of the season results count far more than performances do; I'd happily take two more iffy 1-0 wins from our next two
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Never thought I'd say this as I'm one of his biggest critics but since he turned things around towards the latter part of last season he has looked a lot more assured and commanding.Originally posted by Scratch View PostApologies if my post upset Shaggy and The Weatherman, it was a tongue in cheek reply to all the negativity surrounding our two clean sheets and the fact that Mignolet hasn't had a save of note to make, so we must be doing something right?
Looked very relaxed last night and his kicking which in general is woeful looks like it's certainly improved.
Originally posted by Lecter View PostI thought Bournemouth worked themselves down the channel quite well a number of times and pulled Lovren out to expose him, its what they did after waltzing past him where they lacked a final ball
I fear that teams with better players will expose Lovren all day long, the midfield is still easy to get through and although Gomez has tightened that side a little there are still gaps to be easily exploited with the right quality of player
A lot of people on here believe that you're negative Lecter but I have to agree with a lot of the stuff you write.
I don't think we've been amazing these first two games, we played some decent stuff a bit last night and one or two performed well but I have a feeling we will get badly found out soon as much it pains me to say it.
Lovren gives me the spooks big time.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

I have to agree. I also thought that Lallana did alright with many interceptions / good tackles & energetic play.Originally posted by RedReet View PostI'm going to have to stop watching matches sober.
I thought Can did ok when he came on last night. I thought as a team we suffered when Henderson went off, but individually I thought Can did quite well. Obviously I'm on my own.
Also thought Gomez, despite playing well, didn't make as big an impression as previous games, so was surprised to see him get so many MOTM nominations.
Back on the booze for me next time.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

With you 100% on these matters.Originally posted by False9 View PostRe Lallana ... Jesus maybe I have set the bar low for him .. thought he closed down well, won a few tackles .. played an absolute peach of ball over the play to the right flank ... he looked more at it to me .. kept the ball well ... but I can see I am the only person on the planet who seen this performance
Did not like Ibe on the Left ... on the right sure .. on the left he is not the same player ..

We just need for Can to click, Sturridge to come back fit and we could be formidable this season

Depends on how quick the team develops an identity, we're not there yet but if we can start with a decent run I can see where your coming from. My worry is that we're not holding onto the ball as well as we have done in the past.Originally posted by False9 View Post

Not utter rubbishOriginally posted by RichC View PostUtter rubbish. Did you watch the match
I went to Anfield to watch it (as usual) AND watched a replay of it on tvBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I think we are allowed to view things differently.
There is probably a ball hair of difference between what you both think.
For my money Lovren shows no signs of being a long term CB for us, he is far to agricultural. The clean sheets are great, but we're not without a lot of flaws. I'll take no pleasure in viewing should he go on to cough up opportunities to more savy opposition.
The biggest thing he has done is remove the spotlight from Skrtel who I used to view as an I composed error prone agricultural Centre Back
Modifying post.
