He's set up tp score no goals, has a disjointed midfield, a weak defence and Mignolet - there isn't an area on the pitch that works properly. He has to go.

Yesterday we rarely threatened and Benteke scored a worldie. The only game we looked like scoring in was the first half at Arsenal and we didn't score then. We have no creativity our goals have come from individual brilliance rather than a cohesive system of play, which is very worrying

-------------- Benteke-----------------Originally posted by Fierce View PostI didn't watch it live as was travelling, but I saw the team and was delighted, the diamond formation!!
But despite those players being exactly, perfectly suited to the diamond formation, he played 2 of them out of position?? Can anyone advise why that would be?
Benteke --- Ings
----Firminio
--Can----Milner
-----Lucas
How can those footballers be played elsewhere?

Still really pissed off.
It looks like Brendan is just making it up as he goes along. No team philosophy. No direction.
For me, the next 5 league games will be the make or break for brendan. Norwich and Villa at home....followed by Spurs and Everton away and then Southampton at home. He needs 4 wins and a draw for me in all of those games. The next 2 league games gives LFC a good opportunity to start scoring goals and getting confidence.
Play the following formation:
-----------------------------------------MIGNOLET----------------------------------------
CLYNE--------------SKRTEL---------------------------------SAKHO-------------MORENO
------------HENDERSON----------------MILNER------------COUTINHO------------------
----------------------------------------FIRMINO-------------------------------------------
-----------------------INGS------------------------------BENTEKE------------------------
With sturridge coming in for ings when he gets back.

What makes it worse is the fact that when Swansea switched to the diamond United couldn't cope.Originally posted by Fierce View PostI didn't watch it live as was travelling, but I saw the team and was delighted, the diamond formation!!

Another thing that pissed me off is that when Benteke got his goal you'd think there'd be some urgency like the players would all start pressing and going for the draw but they didn't, they continued to sit back! And look what happened, it was almost as if they beleived that even though it was only 2-1 that goal was a consolationThe times they are a changin'.

Really? last season we had a CM at CB, a winger up front and an attacking mid at wingbackOriginally posted by Jaymo View PostI still can't believe he sent out a team that suits the 442 diamond so perfectly and played 4141 with a striker and a central player on the wings.
****ing hell.

That team (with Sturridge in for Ings) would probably be the best 11 we could put out but it offers no width, unless you use the full backs for that - in which case we could concede a couple of goals again because the CBs are so exposed. I can't put an 11 together that has quality and balance with the players we haveOriginally posted by frank the tank View PostStill really pissed off.

To be honest, i think that is brendans best chance of some success......just ****in go for it. Like we did in 13/14, we were as leaky as **** back then but we knew that we could score 2 or 3 goals every game and just ****in go for it..... kevin ****in keegan '96 style..... it's not exactly Pep Guardiola esque and we are likely to get the odd spanking from a team that play a good counter-attacking game but at least we'd have a ****in go. At the moment, we don't seem to know what we are doing.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostThat team (with Sturridge in for Ings) would probably be the best 11 we could put out but it offers no width, unless you use the full backs for that - in which case we could concede a couple of goals again because the CBs are so exposed. I'm not sure we have enough goals in that 11 to do that. Beneteke and Sturridge could be capable of 20 goals each if they played every game but realistically beyond that you are probably talking about 7 or so each from Coutinho and Firmino and about 4 each from Milner and Henderson, plus the odd one or two elsewhereOriginally posted by frank the tank View PostTo be honest, i think that is brendans best chance of some success......just ****in go for it. It's strange, I used to be absolutely gutted when we lost to Utd, really miserable but this game didn't give me that. I'm not sure if it's because I can explain it easily by us being managed buy someone without a clue, or if it's because it didn't really feel like a contest, we didn't actually try to compete so the result doesn't really count in some way. You can't blame a pacifist for getting beaten up without retaliation.
Either way, as well as being the cause, Brendan has become the excuse for **** results. When I go to work tomorrow i'll get some stick but everyone will settle on the explanation that 'yeah, Rodgers is ****'.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Just thinking about players that are new to the club and taking time to settle in their positions etc. Obviously some players settle quicker than others but I think to make it as easy as possible for them to settle in we need to play them in a position they know well so that the can adapt to the league without having to learn to play their role at the same time. Ideally they should be coming into a side with an established system so the more established players can help them out. From yesterdays side:
Mignolet - established - normal position
Clyne - new to club - normal position
Skrtel - established - normal position
Lovren - established - normal position
Gomez - new to league - out of position
Lucas - established - normal position
Milner - new to club - prefered position (not played there for a while)
Can - established - prefered position (not played there for a while)
Firmino - new to league - out of position
Ings - new to club - out of position
Benteke - new to club - normal position
Looking at the list above it is chaos in there, the whole attacking half of the team is either new to the club, being played out of position, or being played in a position which is different from the one they played last year. The only exceptions to that in terms of outfield players are Lucas who has just come back from injury and Skrtel and Lovren who well the least said about them the better...
While it may look like making excuses for people it's a total cluster **** in there it' no wonder people aren't playing well and we don't look like a teamThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
