agree completely. I dont want him to leave because of the results....or even the performances to be honest.....it is because i cannot for the life of me see what direction Brendan is trying to take the team in. In his first season, i thought "okay.....at least he has a plan". His second season was just phenomenal.....but since then, i really can't see what we are trying to achieve in our play.
Going to 3 at the back in the second half v west ham a few weeks ago was the tipping point for me. 3 at the back with lucas sitting.......against a team who played the first half with 10 men behind the ball and managed to get a 2 goal head start. That has been playing on my head for a few weeks and i still cant understand it.
The team line up today - when I saw it I thought "finally....we can get back to seeing a team set up to create chances andd score some goals" - i genuinely thought that we were looking at a diamond formation but the 3 at the back malarkey again today was a joke. Emre Can's job is to bring the ball out of defense and start the play.....Lucas's job is to sit in front of the defense and start the play. It just makes no sense. The only thing i can think of is that BR doeesnt think that Skrtel or Sakho can play in a back 4???
Also, you would have to assume that the long term intention is to pair Sturridge with Benteke up front. So why hasn't Ings, Origi, Firnino or even Ibe / Lallana played up front with Benteke so far this season then? To get Benteke used to playing with a partner ahead of the LFC midfield....and to get the team used to that as well. That is another big failing of Brendan.
Speaking of strikers, i know it is early days and he might be carrying a niggle, but Benteke is looking a shadow of the player he was under the tactical genius that is Tim ****in Sherwood. I know people will say that Sherwood played to Bentekes strenghts....but that is what Brendan has tried to do as well. I know that people will say that Brendan hasnt had enough coaching time with Benteke yet as well......but T-f-S was dropped into the Villa job for a few months at the end of last year....
I know Borini wasnt exactly Luis Suarez but he is a lot better than what he showed under BR. I know Mario is a dope and must be a nightmare to handle but the likes of Mancini, Mourinho were able to get some sort of a song out of him. Origi was billed as one of the best young players in europe - well that is supposed to be Brendans speciality so it will be good to see what happens with him over the season....
I think Brendans saving grace in the eyes of FSG is probably his ability to introduce young players to the first team. Well in reality he has never needed to when the team was under such scrutiny as now.......so it will be interesting to see what kind of impact the likes of Ibe can make in the next couple of weeks and months under Brendans guidance....
I look at the team though and i really think another manager could go in there and get a proper song out of the squad we have. I am not saying that this is what we should do, but even a turkey like Harry Redknapp could probably go in there and at least get the team creating chances and scoring goals.... i think the high running, pressing, intensity game that Klopp would try to introduce might very well suit the squad of players we have at the club at the moment.
I remember after the united game last season - when it was obvious we were not going to qualify for the CL - i posted saying that i would like to see Emre Can play DM, and a few other young players as well so we would at least see what they were made of - if they could suit that play. But Brendan didn't do that - he was too busy dragging the season on to a useless finish. I think the time could come very soon where FSG ask themselves the same question of themselves - do they just let this season fizzle out to a nothing?? Or do they put a new man in place, give him this season to assess his squad and build for the next 3 to 5 seasons??

But he has a hubris about him, and talks in these ludicrous riddles, that is starting to give me the impression of delusions of grandeur. All these too-clever-by-half formation changes. He thinks he's reinventing the wheel, when in fact he's all over the place. That relentless possession thing he was known for at Swansea...we did that for a while but it was passive and ****, then Suarez/Sturridge/Sterling demanded that we play a different game, that got broken up and what have we been since? We're not that possession machine any more, we're not that lightning quick maverick pressing machine, we're not anything. We're beige at best. His thinking seems so muddled. I'm going off track here - he's not a complete fraud but the longer this goes on, and the more bollocks he talks about it, the bigger fool he's starting to look.
