Have we not had enough of low priced players? Not learnt any lessons? Diao Diouf and Cheyrou should tell us the answer... I'd rather have spent the £20M on one £20M player. Low priced wingers? How many low priced wingers do we need to buy before we realise we have spent millions on wingers - enough to have enabled us to buy a Joaquin?

i wouldn't call diouf low priced

and joaquin is gash, there is still alot of risk in throwing lots of cash at expensive players too

I don't see the point in even arguing with him on this.

Diouf came as our star striker instead of buying Anelka, he cost £10M but as far as star strikers go that is cheap. Expensive for Diouf and expensive for Liverpool but cheap as far as top clubs buying top strikers go.

He's no better than what we've got and I doubt that he'd ever make it at a big club in the prem. His level is more Charlton, Wigan, Fulham etc...

Liam Miller was a one off. One only has to look across the park to see a successful import to the PL from the SPL in the shape of James Mc Fadden

But seriously though, if you've seen as much of McGeady as i have, you'll know that he is a far better player than mcFadden already and he's only 19. I reckon he'll develop into a GREAT player.

Again, he's ALREADY good now so noone give me any of this "oh no, not more 'potential' " bollox.

                        Cheers big ears.

he has but he's had to fight for it hasn't he.

In the houllier reign cash was thrown at him willy nilly, now benitez comes along with half a brain, and has to sell all the **** off to even get a decent amount to work with.

A £40mil investment over nearly 3 seasons from the board is not enough. That's just north of 13mil a season, maybe 15mil by the time January is done.

In the BBC's list of the current top 15 goalscorers in the Premiership, only Drogba, Henry and Rooney cost more than £10m. Henry was only £1m more.
