    Klopp has us doing that.
They are not that bad a side, How many times did we win under Rafa and it was always the opposition being bad.

We made them look bad as we controlled the game.

We controlled both games. They were pretty bad in reality.

Another goal would have been a fairer result but did anyone else worry about conceding? I certainly didn't. When's the last time that happened?

I did, but only because it's the usual feeling at 1-0 when you lose control of the game. For about five or so minutes we let it slip and it only takes a bit of luck or a set piece goal.

In a normal game against a decent side the opponent wil have good spells. They weren't great today but when you're at home and a goal down its inevitable you will gamble and throw more players forwards. Because we didn't kill the game on the counter it made it more difficult.

But only five minutes of worry as opposed to prolonged tension and inviting them on - much better.
          Forwards.......

Thanks bud. I saw one that showed the lovely lay off from Firmino to set Ibe on his way. He's settling in nicely now is Firmino & can't wait for the goal rush to flow.

Didn't like the way we have away a few too many stupid fouls as we eased off the game, as a better side could punish that.

Good performances from Ibe, Clyne and Firmino, if more than a bit wasteful at times.
You are upset we won and kept an easy clean sheet without a certain someone aren't you? So bitter about Sakho too!

Rubin manager Valeriy Chaly was happy with his team’s showing as European football returned to the Kazan Arena.

“In the second half we looked more composed but we have a problem with the composition so the young players had a chance,” he said.

“For them, it’s an experience. Liverpool are a good team and showed that against Chelsea (beating them 3-1 on Saturday) – so, we are still better than Chelsea!”

I agree about taking a strong team but the squad we took was a bit of a gamble IMO, we'll only fully know whether it was right after the Palace game.

Are any of our player playing meaningful Internationals the following week? I don’t think we have anyone in the playoffs and I take it no players are going to South America, so hopefully we’ll have a well rested squad for the City match.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I disagree, we needed a result in Russia as we failed to win at home. We couldn't afford not to play a strong team as otherwise we may have been heading for the exit.

This isn't the League Cup. This is a European Trophy that is still highly regarded on the continent. A strong showing entices others to join. Even if we made the CL, top players would have no interest in joining if we are a ream that can't even progress past the group stages in this.

We also have to think about our coefficient. Not to mention a win equals automatic entry and top seeding for next years CL. in essence, Kazan was a bigger game than Palace.

You appear to have not read the part of my post where I said that we needed to take a strong team. I merely questioned taking players with injury concerns.
