    The kids Are United

This fits both the youth and loan stickies, so a fresh thread makes more sense.

Since Klopp came in he has given time to Conor Randall, Brad Smith, Jordan Rossiter, Pedro Chirivella, Cameron Brannagan from the youth ranks plus bench time for Sinclair and Teixeira, on loan we have Danny Ward, Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo, Sergi Canos, Andre Widsom, all of whom have a reasonable chance of being considered for the senior squad next season (maybe January for Kent and Canos) plus Lazar Markovic who surely will be part of it for certain.

Ryan McLaughlin and Harry Wilson having been recalled, Allan has not yet got a work permit but should do after his next loan in January.

    Last nights team

    Bogdan
    Randall 20
    Skrtel
    Lovren
    Moreno 21 (Smith 21)
    Lucas
    Can 21
    Allen (Henderson)
    Lallana
    Sturridge (Ibe 20)
    Origi 20

Anyone who has watched Smith will know how good he was in the U21s before his loan to Swindon where he continued to do well before the recall and his contract dispute, with that sorted and his cameo last night I really think he can be the 2nd choice LB for the rest of the season. He is fast and can cross with either foot.

At right back Randall had a harder time of it but after the early horrors (not helped by Can it must be said) he grew into the game and even got a shot off as he started to get further up the pitch. I suspect that may be as good it gets as the return of Flanno is not that far away. Also McLaughlin is back, he used to tear up and down the right in the u21s like a mad thing and like Smith has a good cross on him.

Which players do you think can make a case for the second half of the season and/or which get a toe-hold in the squad next summer?

    My list

    Flanno
    Smith
    Markovic
    Kent
    Chirivella
    Ojo

    Moreno is only 21?

The obvious gaps in terms of first team cover - so you would imagine Smith and whoever is chosen as right back cover would make the biggest impact (have the most chances at least).

I would have less faith than some that Flannagan will come back ready to go straight away.

Depending what we end up doing long term in terms of the deepest midfielder there could be chances there too. Not sure if Rossiter will be given games or we will end up looking to one of Can, Henderson, Milner and Allen to provide cover/backup for Lucas.

Well he isn't going to play again this season and he is already part of the senior squad.

You can say the same about Markovic.

While Klopp has been giving youngsters a chance so far, we have had some fairly significant injuries in his brief time here so you could perhaps argue that this has played a role in the youngsters being given a chance, so it will be interesting to see what happens now that the first team players are starting to return from injury.

Assuming that the squad stays fit it is obviously going to be the people in the positions where we lack depth that will probably get the most chances, full back being the main one. Smith looked decent in his cameo, and Randall grew into the game, with McLaughlin now back it will be interesting to see who gets first shot at the RB slot, McLaughlin was highly rated for a while and is now 21 I imagine that if he is to have a future here this is probably his best chance to stake his claim as next season he could find himself behind Clyne, Flanagan and Wisdom.

I imagine Rossiter could also have a decent shout because the high intensity game will probably take it's toll on the midfield so there could be opportunities for him in there too.

Teixeira I'd like to see get more chances but there is alot of competition for those attacking places, Benteke, Sturridge, Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe and Origi are all ahead of him at the moment, there is also Ings and possibly Markovic to come back next season, so I really struggle to see him getting many games.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Flanno is a welcome sight for both LB and RB cover. God knows our FBs will need regular breaks. I was thinking of recalling Wisdom from RB in January so we have two good FBs on either side. But with Flanno and hopefully the emergence of Smith we might be ok.

The players I think that will have a chance (and raw talent):

                  Flanno
Smith (for the most in demand position)
                  Kent
                  Markovic (if he is recalled)
                  Wilson (criminally under used)
                  One tit for another.

                      Title changed!

Wisdom can't be recalled as its a Prem-to-Prem loan.

edit title not properly changed, I tried but it won't let me.

We also got £1m for the Wisdom loan IIRC, which I can't see us wanting to pay back for him to sit on our bench, even if we could.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

                            Bump!

With all the recalls the senior squad now has the following

                            Fulton
                            Randall
                            Ilori
                            McLaughlin
                            Smith
                            Brannagan
                            Stewart
                            Teixeira
                            Ojo
                            Kent
                            Flannagan
                            Chirivella

                            and Sinclair

Which really should be the next FA Cup starting er 13
