Very good game and we played really well, Lovren was fantastic and I have to give him credit, he has improved massively and is doing all the basics well, huge improvement from him. Henderson was also excellent too, good to see big Chris get a goal. Origi was also very good before coming off.

Well, it gives the overall placement of both CBs today in all phases of play, which I think you're well aware of.....to me, it gives the impression of Sakho acting as the senior CB. Something which appeared to be abundantly clear to me during the game, it also happened interestingly enough in the second half of the Watford game when Lucas settled back into the backline.Originally posted by RichC View Postdoes this heat map take into consideration where the attacks came from Leicester todsy or the positoning of others in the defence or perhaps when Sakho drops off to pick up the ball from the keeper ?
Certainly doesn't show when a side is attacking us one defender being 10 yards deeper "to read the game".
In fact as a casual reader of the concentration zones I'm all ears for your succinct explantion of what this actually means
It's not that unusual, and not inherently wrong either, but it certainly reinforces the impression I had of Sakho's relationship with Dejan today.
He frequently took up a cover defensive position on a number of occasions, which is fine in a lot of situations, and sometimes not of course, but for some reason it appears to be a bone of contention to suggest someone other than Skrtel operating in a similar vein. It was as clear as day to me during the game, and to be fair, his poor positioning in one instance gifted them a decent chance in the first half during one of his 'moments' keeping the striker onside.
There was actually probably less movement the usual of the ball from the defence by Sakho until Leicester backed off as the game wore on, which is no real surprise, so that is certainly no explanation for his predominant position. Lovren performed decently enough today, though was probably lucky to avoid a card for his reckless challenge (ironic after what put him out the other week and some of the reaction on here), and given he was just back he was the far more impressively calm of the two today, but I certainly wasn't impressed as some today by the clean sheet, but it's obviously more than welcome.

We can tell, every post you've made after the game has been criticising the defence. After we beat the league leaders and held them to nil pretty comfortably in doing so, a team who had previously scored in every league game this season got **** all out of us. You've got bitterness oozing from every pore, it's really, really weird! I'm sure one of Sakho or Lovren will cost us a goal in the coming weeks and you'll have your time to gloat but as it is, they bossed it and we won, enjoy it!Originally posted by McDermotX View PostI certainly wasn't impressed as some today by the clean sheet

whoops.

FWIW, it's really not.
It just paints a picture of how I read the defensive partnership today, about who was progressive and who was cover. Was OK overall, but there were more than a few errors there today, especially from Mama, and yes, at one or two points, his reserved positioning did influence a chance for the visitors, but we'll take a clean sheet all day long.
Sometimes it just requires a bit of objectivity to properly look at a player's performance, plus I know how much Est loves an incriminating screengrab or two, but to be honest, while there are more than a couple that could be pulled from today's game, I'd leave that to others to ****stir

I think in the circumstances - playing a team who have scored in every game this season and having too clearly not fully match sharp CBs a cleansheet has to be regarded as a massive boon.
Not necessarily indicative of a corner turned defensively but an achievement nonetheless.
My general feeling is that trying to analyse defenders on their own is a bit dangerous. Leicester play a pretty extremist version of giving the opposition that ball and counter attacking. A lot of defending in such situations happens elsewhere, but the tasks of the CBs tend to change to accommodate that."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Well, to be fair.........the best opportunities for Leicester were all of our own making today, but they really don't impress on the opposition at all, forgoing possession to almost ridiculous lengths, especially considering the results and position they've achieved this season.
I'm as happy as anyone with the clean sheet, even if we made it hard on ourselves (Bents especially), but as is usual, I'm always thinking of the next game rather than the one just finished, and I didn't see enough to assuage my concerns."I will make the boys feel your support"

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Much needed win! Great performance by Hendo which is a vast improvement on his poor performances since his return so hoping he continues...
Benteke looks like his confidence is shot. He got a goal but that near the end looked like he was scared to shoot from anywhere outside the box in case he missed.
One thing of note - on the buildup to the miss was he not offside when whoever it was played the ball to him? Unless the rules have changed their keeper was behind Benteke and only a single defending player between Benteke and their goal, plus he was in their half so that's offside... At first when whoever had the ball didn't play it quickly enough I thought and out players got into their half I thought it was going to be flagged. Can anybody confirm I'm not going insane as nobody seems to have spotted it?

Henderson was excellent.....especially in the second half.
Without looking at it again, I thought he was offside myself (Benteke), but the ref had played on and so did they. Should have buried it from 45yds, never mind where he eventually ****ed it up from.
Has to go down as a miss in my book."I will make the boys feel your support"
