I blame LFCTV for all this ****e - Claire Rourke and her straight from central office line of questions which suggest the hapless subject sat opposite her has joined the greatest sporting body in the history of the known universe.

And that's after the tour of the trophy room I bet too many players either think this is great we'll win loads and I'll hardly have to work at it or "OMG, will I be good enough?!"

Very few arrive with their heart and head full of justified belief who will meet the challenge head on.

We should start them off at the Entrance to Melwood with ex-players' shirts of Dundee, Biscan, Josemi, Thomas, Kromkamp, Konchesky, Poulsen... by the time they get to the changing rooms they'll be thinking they're ****ing Pele...

It's what I said in the 'Thinning the Squad' thread. Rafa was excellent at signing players with a strong mentality. You knew what you were going to get week in, week out as a bare minimum from certain players.

We've been shocking at bringing in players with a strong mentality since he's left. You want players who will walk into most stadiums, and focus on the game plan. Much harder to execute, but there must be ways to observe how players react, and how to associate that with their mentality.

Talksport have just alluded aspects of this topic - they were talking about Man Utd but mentioned Liverpool as what could become of them if not careful. A team weighted down by his own history.

I don't think history or memorials weighs on the players. I think what weighs on them most is their lack of talent &/or consistency. And I don't blame them for that, but rather the messed up process that signs them in the first place. If I'm wrong then just think £55m for Carroll and Downing. Both reasonable players on their day but no way worth that much - and that is just scratching the surface of **** recruitment decisions.

At the moment most would agree that Coutinho is one of our best players. And he's not that good. For a title challenging team he would be an emerging star rather than the team's great hope. Problem for him is that he's quite good, but we've blown our dosh on trivia all around him and his like over the years.
              Really?
