That's what I was expecting based on his comments earlier in the year, another season out on loan at Hertha Berlin and evaluate the situation next season. Seems to suit everyone
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

But why not sell now? Playing in Germany isn't really preparing him to come straight into our team. Surely be better to get a PL move if we really think he has a chance here.

I agree, some time in the prem would be a better option if we were looking to keep him, only then could we make a better assessment of his level.
If we were going to sell then it would be better to do it now.
Trannymrkt says his contract is up in june ???

            Ahh, thats just his loan.
The 22-year-old Serbian has agreed an extension with the Reds which will keep him at Anfield until 2023.

              That'll be his loan contract.

I think it runs out next year. So if he doesn`t sign a new one, we better just sell now.

                  Or until 2023

De Bruyne and Sane disagree with you.

Would have really liked to see him being tested in the prem

I think this is a good move, he did well there and has the trust of their coach, so he can hit the ground running and have good season.
                            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

no point him coming back if he’s not ready yet. Another season will make him or break him as far as his career with us goes most likely.

Milner replacement in a year. Or a bigger transfer fee after another decent season in the Bundesliga.
