    The Indefensibe Defending Thread

PUT A MAN ON A POST!
    PUT A BOOT THROUGH IT!
NUDGE THE DEFENDER OUT OF THE WAY!
CLEAN OUT EVERYONE IF YOU HAVE TO!

Liverpool do none of these things.

I don't think a man on the post is such a problem if the player at the front of the 6 yard box does his job properly.

Our defensive issues are hard to solve because its more than just the back 4, the goalkeeper doesn't breed confidence or command his area. The midfield don't offer composure and relief and it builds into what we have now, something that resembles a mess.

**** defense and **** goalkeeper all season=goals conceded....only Clyne seems bar any real criticism, need a new gk and at least 2/3 new defenders. No confidence,no leadership and no organisation, and they all seem incapable of doing the basics let alone what klopp tells them.

A dumb question but when it comes to defending corners who decides if you put men on the posts is that a coaching or GK decison? Assuming that the GK is organising the defence. You used to see GKs telling people where to be, but not so much these days (even with other keepers).
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

imo it should be the gk as it's his duty to protect his goal and sort out the organisation. But klopp must have his say on it as well, but overall i'd say on the pitch and in play the gk.

It just seems odd that in recent games we have struggled to deal with corners played close to the goal and we haven't had men on the posts, surely Man Utd will have noticed this from our recent games and will be putting balls into that area from corners because they see it as a weakness, will we do anything about it though?

I'm sure they'll be saying whip them corners in at the near post...Martial and Rooney will be looking forward to this. There's no communication and organisation, just panic and mayhem.Until klopp brings in his own players nothing will change.

I'll drop this snippet right here:

He might not be the Toure of old but you can still see his displays excellent organisational and leadership skills at the back. Think it was a few games back you could see him urging the defence to step up and we don't see that enough. You used to hear Carragher screaming it back in the day.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

We miss Gerrard, he was our near post guy and he did a pretty good job of it in hindsight.

Two goals in a row scored from corners seems we don't know how to defend areas in the six yard box.

Also two goals West Ham scored far post crosses for Clyne to get out muscled by bigger players both times.

Perhaps Caulker is going to play more than we thought to try and sort this issue out of us being not aggressive enough in our own box.

Please Caulker don't turn out to be just another gentle giant pussy. We do tend to attract those.

We need our american owners to fly over some basketball coaches/players to teach our players how to jump.

90% of the time we are out jumped or dont even try to jump on corners/free kicks. We also dont attack the ball, we just wait and react to what happens.

So we have Toure on the wrong side of Merty, Sakho losing Giroud, Lallana too far off Walcott & Mignolet coming back from taking a ****. Unreal, that pic should be pinned in the dressing room with the caption "How not to defend".
