A lack of a Liverpool Great

Just having a think about our present team and the malaise we are in for leaders/strong characters and this seems the most rudderless we have been in a long time.

All through my times as a our fan we always have had players like Gerrard, Cara , for ten years plus which were supplemented by Suarez recently. With Alonso Kuyt and Mascherano under previous managers.

Then going back to the Houllier we had Henchoz , Hyypia, Didi and Gary Mac and Owen

Nineties we had Molby, Barnes, Redknapp, Fowler and Macmanamanaman
and listing the eighties would show how strong we were as you could make a case for most of the players.

The present lot seems a bit meh to me at the moment as i really come up short with anybody warranting a legend status.

When we come to games it really can be a case for anybody playing and i find it hard to make a case for anybody to be considered every week.

Sometimes i feel like we need a whole new back four when we get the run around by Watford/ Newcastle and whatever other teams fancy it against us. The midfield three get over run by a lot of the **** teams but then counter it with great displays against City and Arsenal and the three up top look like they don't know what a net is no matter which three play.

Out of all that not one player steps forward and strikes me as turning into a legend for us and i find that a strange thing.

This leads me to Klopp signing a pedigree name who can be this leader who inspires the team and the fans in one swoop.

Hummels / Vidal / Kroos / Martinez / Khedira / Gundogan /Koke are the type of player i mean and if you spend 30/40 plus million on any of these surely it is less of a gamble and all our within reach ?

Well when your stars are out for ever (Sturridge) and blowing hot and cold (Coutinho) and your captain is Henderson clearly things are at a low point in that regard.

      Ahh the Spice Boys era.

A byeword for abject underachievement at a time when winning the Premier League could and should have been relatively easy

But we have Wee Joe. What more do we need.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
