Doesn't matter. He can head the ball and he can shoot. We've only won a handful of games this season and three of them have been 1-0 Benteke goal.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI will say it till I'm blue in the face
A striker who doesnt get into the box often enough and doesnt attack the ball when it is played into the box wont score goals (as is proven recently)
Major mistake imo not playing him while we look toothless.

Surely if Caulker was deemed necessary as centre back cover because of injuries then a striker was more important.
We may not see Ings and Sturridge rest of the season and the manager does not rate Benteke as he does not play him.
Keep playing Lallana MIlner and Firmino and goals wont be coming.

Watching that today it felt like the opposite of the 2013-14 season, that side never knew when they were beaten because despite being a goal or two down they knew they could come back and score 4 or 5 and win the game. This side know there is no goals in it and when they went behind that was it they knew it was game over and at became a self-fulfilling prophecyThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

No surprised to be honest. Worrinfly I thought we were better at times than we have been the past couple of months but it's the same problems week in week out.
We really should have tried to find something in the window.....
I don't know who, and I agree you don't want to pay over the odds but surely somewhere there was a striker we could have got that could do a job and give the team and the fans a lift
Say it virtually every week, I struggle to see who I'd keep.
We need a new spine....Gk, cb, cm, striker, as bare minimum....then there is a few in the squad worth keeping to play around a quality spine and they would improve/do a job....and the majority can **** offi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/35399975Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked by BBC MOTD's Jonathan Pearce about his side's good work ethic today: "It’s rare a journalist says something more positive than the manager.
"I’m not too fine with our game today. We could have played much better. We had a few shots where we could pass and a few passes where we could shoot. We created half chances but not real chances. It was a world-class goal from Jamie Vardy. Today would have been a good day to show we are ready for this. I need a few more seconds to calm down. I have to watch it again."Another MASSIVE game

It divides opinion (well it seems that I'm fighting my own corner hereOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostThe reason Benteke doesn't start (other than he's ****e) is that he has a detrimental effect on the rest of the team. We lose shape when he comes on.
) but I'd rather have a goal threat (however minor it might be) than have this current shape.

If you are not in the box then heading is ****ing irrelevant
Its also questionable whether he can shoot or head a ball based on recent evidence
Also flmao at picking only the 1-0 wins and highlighting Benteke
If we are handpicking games we could highlight City, Arsenal, Southampton and Norwich where we scored a total of 18 goals all without Benteke contributing any goalsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

It's obvious, it's easy to say, but it's true. With any one of the three strikers who are currently out injured, all of a sudden this team will look much much better. Yes, we are weak at centre-half, and have too many midfielders that don't score goals, but the glaring weakness is up front. I love Wes Morgan, but if you barely trouble him and Huth over 90 minutes then you really are **** up front.
On a side note, should we read anything into our captain being subbed twice on 60 mins in recent games? Or are we just protecting his bad foot?

We were playing quite well, not great but we were controlling the game but it was game over once the goal went in. Leicester are a much smarter team than us, and thoroughly deserved the win, but we were ok until the goal.Originally posted by cream View PostWe don't have any shape to begin with.Modifying post.

Trouble is, the players who will improve us are the ones clubs are less willing to sell in Jan.Originally posted by cream View PostI agree, but only slightly. We need a lot of players, getting one or two in January would've been the sensible thing to do.

I agree with all of that.
I am all for not panic buying a striker but surely there is someone we could have got on loan for a couple of million that could have done a job until the end of the season, it's painful to watch. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
