Pace gets you out of a lot of trouble these days

If you have pacey players in certain positions you will always have a chance in games

Not having pace, limits your chances

Look through our current line up and tell me who is quick

Yeah load of plodders alright. Ah i'm sick of watching us to be honest, we literally don't have a style of play or an identity yet under Klopp. Bunch of pussies aswell, which is the most infuriating thing for me.. grow some balls ffs.

        payet/kante/mahrez/vardy

We'd have about £100m left in the bank (random guess )

And be challenging for the league
We would be closer to the top 4 with a fit Origi and a fit Ings

We would be in the top 4 with a fit Sturridge

We have two players in the squad (not including Sturridge)

          Moreno and Ibe.

Moreno is only keeping his place due to his pace. Because ibe has been so so disappointing he's not worth starting....and if we don't start ibe and then dropped Moreno, we would have zero pace

I think that fees vary based on the club buying the player. While you might happily sell a player to someone like Leicester for a couple of million quid, if we come in for him the selling club must think either 'if Liverpool want him maybe we're missing something and he's better than we think' or 'Liverpool are good for a few quid' either way the price goes up.

Everyone goes on about Mahrez, but when they signed him Leicester were in the Championship, had they been in the PL at the time the selling club would probably have wanted more money because there is more money in the PL and they would see the chance to make more money.

The other thing is if we are buying a player from a PL club typically the player we want will be their best player and they won't want to sell meaning that we have to pay over the odds. IMO the lower profile clubs are much more likely to get a bargain than the higher profile clubs.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I reckon Origi is pretty quick

Ings is / was also probably quick enough

              The rest are slow

Ojo looks to have a decent turn of pace also. I would have him on the bench

all good points. The trick is to buying good players really isn't it simple!

yeah that's a fair comment....Ings was a blow. Sturridge, no doubting his class but he's never been realiable due to injuries, coutinho being injured is a blow too, origi looks promisng....those four, fully fit would make a huge difference..

The issue is we are left with Lallana, benteke, firminho...around £80m odd of players who just don't offer us any real threat. That's before we look at Milner/Allen/Henderson/Lucas/can who between them couldn't score in a brothel

And this is not include players like Markovic, lambert, ballotelli, aspas, borini....another shed load of cash spent on attacking players who have give us **** all return.

We have been soooo poor in the last few transfer windows it's just shocking

Absolutely mate, obviously when our name comes into it, price goes up. I don't think anyone expects us to get quality player at completely bargain basement prices ala Leicester,Southampton etc, but we aren't getting value for money across the board with any of our signings.

Regardless of what we pay for players, the scouts/commitee or who ever the **** is picking the players need to be sacked and replaced asap. If we paid big money for a player or over the odds, you wouldn't mind if they were doing well and providing value for money.

Unfortunately it's not only 1 or 2 players doing this... it's 7 or 8. Come the summer we'll most likely have yet another reshuffle of loads of players in and out and then have to start from scratch yet again next season.

Pace is massive in this league, so many flat track bullies succeed and we really lack pace in the forward areas. I'd like to see Origi and Ojo get game time (when fit in Origi's case) because both are quick and look to have a goal in them.

I hope we drop load of these windbags and gets likes of Tex,Smith,Brannagan,Ojo in the side from now on in. At least they'll show a bit of effort and bottle.

we are sort of stuck in a limbo, that's how I see it.

The real top class players, or potentially very good players.....we either can't afford, or when we do identify one we can, we get priced out or a "bigger" club comes along and blows us out the water....

So we are left with trying to pick the best of the rest, from lesser sides....so the likes of Lallana/lovren, look like the main men at Southampton...Southampton don't have to sell...but we are desperate, so we we go in at over the odds.

This has happened for years to us.

That said, surely our scouts can do better. We've been desperate and crying out for someone strong, pacy, hard, good engine in the centre of midfield for about four years and Leicester find that kante for about £6m

First thing I would do with all our scouts is ask them to target forwards and attacking players with pace

I'd have it drilled into them

                            Pace, pace, pace, pace

I think that the problem is because of what I mentioned before about clubs being reluctant to sell their best players we end up paying £30m for a player who is probably a £20m player or £25m for a £15m player, there's probably much better value in going for £40m players than to £25m-30m type range we've been looking at.

it's a weird state off affairs & yes surely to god our scouts can do a better job. ****, me or you could do a better job given a couple of hundred million to buy players.
