The ticketing group who were in consultation with the club were aware that the club will make £35million this season in tickets. If there was a price freeze, the club would make £37million. Due to the ticketing news, the club will make £39million, yet the corporate hospitality stuff will make enough to cover repayments for the building of the Main Stand. Basically, the club are making an extra £2million for no reason, other than to boost the coffers.

The fact that people will buy these tickets means the club could easily raise them again in the future. As we saw today, when the fans left, where were the songs? Where was the atmosphere? In light of the new TV deal too, there wasn't a justification to raise prices.

Ian Ayre said himself that the club culture is the biggest seller, more than anything, yet they are contributing to the destruction of that. If they continue in this manner, they will have a permanent, soulless club, with the draw of the famous Anfield atmosphere and experience being nothing more than a remnant in history.

Football has become a business, but it looks like that it's reaching, or has reached boiling point in the case of Liverpool Football Club.

What they've done is test the waters on how much they could get away with, and this time, the reaction has been nuclear.

Don`t forget the "low level hospitality" ticket that`s about £150 or something like that maybe you get to sit on ayre`s harley before the match or something

We can't just rebuild a squad every other year can we? Look at how Spurs have steadied the ship after spunking so much money on seemingly average players when they sold Bale. They aren't able to spend that much nowadays and the appointment of Pochettino has allowed them to bring in some young players and now they're in with a sniff of winning the league.

It's doom and gloom at the moment but if we hold our nerve, we'll get better, with mostly the same team we currently have. I'd replace Mignolet though.
        Are we winning?

              Why not?

In fact it's a must if the squad is simply not good enough.

Football is an entertainment business. I know that real fans support their club through good and bad times, but if the owners are not careful they risk losing genuine supporters. They're delivering less entertainment value for more money, we're slowly sinking towards the bottom half of the table and I'm not entirely sure that the owners are particularly bothered.

Leicester has more or less the same team as last season, with a few quality additions.

We need quality additions. Not chopping and changing the heart of the squad.

I'd have a new goalkeeper, striker, left back and a midfielder (Mario Grujic) and maybe a wide player with pace.

The club paid more than anyone in agents fee's the last few summers. Stop paying those vermin that much and use the money saved to help the fans.

That's not what was said, and even that is better than your idea of giving then all another pass! Half the team is 5/6 players which is not an enormous turnover. I'd like 3/4 genuine quality players in and promotion of some of the better young and returning players to replace that.

You only have to look at how little John Henry either attends or even comments nowadays. In my opinion he is looking to sell the club with the new TV deal and ground expansion giving him the profit he will be looking for

This is by far the best argument against the new prices I've read.

Not sure I'd say swelling coffers for no good reason though. It'll go towards making us successful, bridging the gap in match day income between us and our rivals is sadly one of the things we need to do if we want to be consistently challenging. This is a systemic problem, not a club one. If people are wanting to protest against the scourge of capitalism in football I'm right there, but poking a finger in FSG's eye isn't the way forward for me, much as the issue is real and the intention good.

It's the heart of the squad that is the biggest problem. Goalie, at least 1 CB, LB, CM(as well as Grujic), at least 1 winger and a striker. Obviously we can't change everyone but most of the first team needs changing.

5/6 is an enormous turnover, more so if we do end up playing the early qualifying rounds of the Europa league next year - it will cause us all sorts of logistical nightmares to bed in new players amidst the pre-season training. And there is no guarantee of getting the bulk of quality players in the market.

We have some decent players but the reality is we have not been able to call on them for big parts of the season due to injuries. We've lost pace and goals upfront and we need to rectify this and also a new goalkeeper. But this squad has got the basis of a decent squad, amidst all the doom and gloom.
                                Are we winning?
