I thought Chirivella was excellent. He is a proper footballer and makes excellent decisions, even when under pressure. Hopefully he can keep progressing, because he could fill the huge hole in our squad of a deep lying play maker who uses the ball really well.

Just needs a red wine stain and rip on his shirt, if one of the West Ham coaches could stick on a ball gown smear some make up and be sat smoking a malboro light with high heeled shoes in their hand, the look would be complete.

That loss last night absolutely gutted me. One of the worst I've felt after the game in ages. I felt for the youngsters that had come in and done so well. Some of the football we were playing at times was excellent.

Same old failings though. Missing chances as per usual and conceding at another set piece.

Positives to be had but painful.

                Did you feel it too?

It's because we actually had a right balance of players on the pitch instead of the ****ing atrocious combination of Milner/Henderson/Can/Firmino/Lallana

It actually felt like watching a functional team (for the most parts)

That's why I was absolutely gutted too, I felt some affinity to the football being played.

Feel much more positive today than our PL games.

I was wierdly less gutted than normal.

I don't know if it's because we actually put in a semi decent performance and it wasn't just turd or if it was because I pretty much have resigned myself to the fact that this is a transitional season.

For me, our priority now should be winning the Europa and beating City in the league cup final.

We really did look like a functioning team last night, whereas the first team on many occasions look like bunch of strangers at times, to be fair things have been improving in recent PL games as well but that was probably one of the best footballing team performances of the season. Hopefully having the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge able to get some game time will raise everyones level.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

First 30 mins was as good as I've seen any team pass the ball this season.

Unlucky to loose that but the extra games if we'd have won won't be missed. Let's win the final & focus on the Europa & the league.

At the time, it felt frustrating because the ball was looped towards the back post and wasn't exactly fizzed in. I think Carroll's near post run has caught a few of our players' eyes but it's a fantastic leap from Ogbonna; to generate that power from a floated ball (and almost a standing start) to send it back across goal is something special.

Any goal conceded from a set-piece delivery raises questions and as we're all aware, we are certainly prone to a defensive brain fart at the best of times, but I think we've just got to accept it was an excellent headed goal.
