I don't know what game I was watching, but I was in a house full and we all thought we were lucky to be in it. Was there actually even a shot on target for 3/4's of the match? We fought our way back into the game towards the end and fair play for that, but that doesn't make up for how poor I thought we were for most of the 90 minutes. We could hardly string two passes together, lacked any penetration and left huge gaps at the back, City, for the most part, were so well organised at the back compared to us.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostWe lack so much quality, we really have assembled an average bunch.
Henderson, for me, was ****ing abysmal.
How many times he was demanding the ball, arms wide from a defender then just rolling it back to them putting them under pressure was ridiculous. When he receives the ball its like a kid who has been told 'play the way you're facing' he has the ball and on TV you can clearly see if he lifts his head there is a pass or if he turns, again there is a switch of play but he simply doesn't/can't do it.
Maybe its the injury I don't know but he was as bad as I've seen today, such simple things like a pass out to Sturridge under no pressure and it comes to a marked Sturridge at knee height, ridiculous for a pro never mind a captain.
Mignolet made some good saves, thats what a keeper is for.. His mistake (again) is unforgivable, you'd expect a player who has had to go in because of injuries and no subs to save that.
Firmino had an off day, a really poor off day when we really needed him.
I felt sorry for Sturridge because he was getting nothing whatsoever, when he dropped deep because he was so isolated he actually looked our most creative. Standing his man, looking for 1-2's and being direct. He wasn't great but he was let down by a lot of his teammates.
Lucas.. Fantastic, it was cruel on him missing his pen.
I think this season is going to be a complete right off and Klopp won't be impressed. I see big changes ahead.SakhoPotatoes

Henderson is such a poor footballer. Can't believe he's out captain. Does he even know how to turn with the ball? Even under no pressure and in our own half he can't do it. If his back is to goal then he passes back to the defense almost every time. Drives me mad. He creates next to nothing, he's a nothing player.

The thing that struck me was that City seemed to have us outnumbered when we attacked (4 attackers to 6 or 7 defenders) and then when we lost the ball and City counter attacked it seemed to be 4 against 4.
Don't know how they did it but they really seemed to have 13 players out there to our 11.
In truth it should have been 3-1 to them in normal time and but for some sloppy finishing on their part it would have been.
We desperately need more pace and skill in our side next season instead of the plodding workhorses we currently have to stretch opponents and get in behind them

Did you mean to quote me? I didn't say anything about us playing well, I berated a few players.Originally posted by tanner View PostI don't know what game I was watching, but I was in a house full and we all thought we were lucky to be in it. Yeah he doesn't turn on the ball, must be due to a lack of awareness or communication, he was asking quite demandingly for the ball from Sakho. Only to give him it straight back, then Sakho had people charging at him, so the pass was ****ing pointless.. All that had happened is the clock ticked 3 seconds and now we're in a worse position to play out.Originally posted by captainfog View PostHenderson is such a poor footballer. Maybe the case a lot of the time but throughout the game my feelings were as I've posted, if we'd have won that it would have been very much a snatch and grab.. I'd have celebrated it like a mad man but once the dust settled it would have been the same, City defended pretty well but because out midfield 2 couldn't control/pass properly we couldn't slide the ball into Coutinho/Firmino who didn't really play great anyway. Sturridge was isolated but when he dropped into the number 10 area he looked dangerous, which made me wonder why Coutinho/Firmino were doing so little in those spaces.Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostThere's some bull**** posted in this thread. Had the penalty shoot-out lottery been more fortunate for ourselves our players would have been great. We can't criticise too much, we matched the team that won for 120 minutes.
Make no mistake on another day City could have scored 5. Not exaggerating, look back at the chances they had, the pen that was a dead cert. How many days would Aguero have missed the 3/4 chances he had today? Sterling had 2 tap ins too.
We had very little in truth, the goal + Origi have nearly moments.Vive la France

Either its all rosy or just a shovel of ****e.
Apart from a LB and goalkeeping howler, we weren't bad today. Did well to fight our way back into the game. Had our chances to win it, even if they also had theirs. Our midfield three were nowhere near quick enough to get the ball forward though, and our front three were starved of decent service, to the point where they had to keep looking for it.
