Because if you put all your eggs in one basket and don't win the EL and fail to qualify for it at all when you do get back in the Chapions League you end up in pot 4 an an increadibly diffficult prospect of getting out your group.
Plus the different between 8th and 5th is £3,700,000 in prize money alone and possibly more for private sponsorship deals.
We have 9 (max including EL Final) games left and should be going all out in them all.

While I agree we should be trying to finish as high up the table as possible we have a month of the season left with 2 games a week every week. Given the injuries / limited number of players available we will have to rotate and use the squad for some games, so we will have to prioritise some games over others.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Don't know if this has already been posted but Opta (I think) sent a tweet today saying Liverpool are the first team to win at 50 different away grounds in the PL.
For a side patched together from the parts bin with gaffer tape that was a very decent result.
Boring then two goals and nothing from Bournemouth until it was too late to loose!
Ward did well except under a high, pressure ball but that's a Liverpool trait so welcome to the club! Ibe and Ojo were both excellent I just love Ojo - he's got a certain Je ne s 'oooh la laaa' which is matched by his ability on the ball. I think more than ever he's going to be the next big thing for the club from the youth.
Sturridge did well could have had 4 or 5 in truth but that he was in the right place to nearly score was important. Seems to be coming back, even if he still isn't blitzing anyone. Maybe he is changing his game though to protect his body.
