I'm not a fan of either but Karius hasn't been given much of a look in so needs to at least be given that opportunity. We do need a keeper though and agree it's where the bulk of our transfer spend should go on.

Fahrmann will be entering the final year of his contract come June so would guesstimate that he could be got for around the 20m to 30m range. He turns 30 later on this year so would have a few years left in him at the top level.


Alisson is young and has more years left on his contract, but would still be a 30m to 40m.


The only keeper out there (who may also be for gettable) that might be a bulk of our money buy would be Oblak.



Ignoring wages and signing on fees and looking just at transfer fees, then the Coutinho money should, in theory, be enough for a big upgrade between the sticks, a player like Fekir ( probably in the 60m range), with a big chunk left to either buy or put towards another quality CM.


Then use next summer's transfer kitty for a quality CB and some depth.

His biggest profile flop at Dortmund was probably Ciro Immobile. Immobile was loaned out 12 months after Klopp brought him in and sold not too long after that.


But cannot give Klopp credit for that as Klopp quit Dortmund the same summer that Immobile was loaned out

Yep agreed - he is the biggest problem - since Reina he has turned every keeper we have bought to **** - A decent keeping coach could actually turn the two we have into decent keepers again.

It looks like he has had it with Mingolet and Karius is in last chance saloon until the end of the season.

Only thing I feel sorry for Mingolet is that he won't have a run behind VVD.
