I genuinely think he's here as Mignolet's understudy with an aim to replace Mignolet in future years. Others will disagree, but given his age and the other 'keepers reportedly available, I think we've gone with youth and development.

I think there is something to this, he'll likely miss the first couple of games due to being in Germany's Olympic squad. Its also probably the most sensible way of introducing a young lad, goalkeeper especially, into the Premier League. However reports on him seem promising and he could end up number 1 by the end of the year.

He is the number 1 but he definitely won't be starting of first few games in goal, can't see Klopp dropping Mignolet for a 22 year old new to the league immediately on his return barring a terrible run of form.
