Exactly that. Goalkeepers without exception take some time to settle in the premiership.

I remember everyone laughing at De Gea when he arrived as a skinny kid.

He showed he has a bit about him to get in the first team, but it wouldn't do any harm to ease him into it.

him coming for crosses worries me, before the fleetwood game the usual exercise of balls punted in from wide, no defence or oppo. He was absolutely awful. Terrible footwork and looked like he was about to fall over, and he kept misjudging the flight of the ball by 2-3 yards hopefully he was just struggling to adapt to awful cross from achterberg/bogdan

Mignolet flaps a huge amount also and is utter ****e with the ball at his feet

It is something he was known for in Germany too. Excellent shot stopper, quick to come off his line to intercept with his feet, very confident, but prone to missing crosses and high balls.

In terms of the up and coming young German keepers he used to bey seen as being behind the likes of Leno, ter Stegen, and Horn. But that is hardly a knock against the guy as, like Karius, those guys are/were all highly rated as the next top class German keeper.

Plus he is still a young keeper at 23 so has time on his side with regards to working on the sides of his game that were not seen as being as strong as hitter qualities. Could well be that with experience he improves on his own timing at things like crosses, and that side of his game comes up to match the things he is already very good at.

We've watched Mig for years and we know what he brings, indecision, ****e distribution and the odd topic class save. The time to judge Karius will be after he's had a at least a season of consistent games.

Oh I am not making any argument for Mig over Karius, quite the opposite as I would start Karius as the number 1 at the club.

I just think that some of the expectations of Karius are a little overboard, and that he will need some time, as you stated, to work on his own game before he can judged.

I agree, and I do think that most keepers that come to England from a different league tend to have difficulties with crosses at first.
                * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Brother-in-Law (a German) reckons Karius is the best of the young German keepers and will be challenging Neuer in a few years.

I dont think i would right now to be honest.

We are on a roll. And a dodgy goalkeeping decision or two can cost points that can fock up that momentum.

So right now, i would be happy to see Karius play all cup matches. With Mignolet keeping his place for league games. If (when) Mig has something like 2 **** ups that cost us points in more than one game, then that would be the time to introduce Karius - IF he has shown good form in cup games.

If Klopp was to put Karius in right now, and he focks up, then the pressure he would be under would be unreal.
