That’s got to be an unprecedented act by a sportsman.

Takes a lot of self assurance (and a trophy laden career) to be able to do that.

    Amazing gesture.
    Modifying post.

That's pretty pony. If your own fans are doing it at the match you're ****ed.

Regardless, he is a paid professional who can no longer perform at their job.

I think we have done the right thing. He has had a chance to show he can handle the pressure during preseason, and failed. I think most of us would have brought in a new keeper anyway.

It sad to hear that he took stick at the match from our own fans... but at the end of the day that was just a friendly game with almost no pressure... its going to be magnified by 100 come the start of the new season, with the media and opposition fans putting him under the microscope.

There is a reason why footballers get paid so much, and hundreds of kids get spat out by the system each year. At least Karius gets a decent wage and still potentially has a long career. Perhaps he would be better suited at a much smaller club. Many players have come to Liverpool and failed to achieve... many have then moved on to have a decent career elsewhere... after all he is still very young by goalkeeping standards. Just not good enough for LFC.

It's a shame too. Got a standing ovation for Chester and kept a clean sheet.

Made that mistake in the warm up (which probably happens all the time) then that **** records it on his phone and it spreads round twitter like wildfire, so the pressure is ramped back up for Tranmere. Again that started from one of his 'supporters', not a rival fan.

Damage was done by then, but that Tranmere player that shouted at him needs a slap too.

Seemed to get a good reaction on his first touch against Dortmund the other night.

This was my main concern and one of the reasons why I wanted him replaced or maybe loaned out. Everytime he gets in goal he is in for a torrent of abuse from opposition fans and from our fans who in their minds can't get over him losing us the final.

He needs a loan move to a different country. Being a number 2 will do nothing for his progress anyways. Needs to go off and silently rebuild his career.

I never rated the guy previous to the incident and I don't feel sorry for him in the slightest but if he has any ambitions, he needs out of LFC imo.

So if we ship him and Mignolet out, then what? We then need to go and try and find a good number two that is better than either of Mignolet or Karius and who is happy to be on our bench but also good enough to step in should Alisson get injured?

                Sounds easy that.

Clearly not easy but at this stage I would rather of kept Mig or Ward and loan Karius out. I wouldn't be adverse to shipping all 3 out and getting an experienced back up but would obviously depends on the options available.

Mig wants out, Karius is shot and Ward is gone. Mig and Karius need first team slots to rebuild their career and they are not going to get them here.

**** it. have Grabara on the bench and if anything goes wrong with Boris we can loan someone under the exceptional circumstances rule

See the thing is I don't really care about the rebuilding of careers elsewhere. All I want is for us to have a decent number two keeper just in case we need one.

Ward is gone, and he was totally unproven at any sort of decent level despite being the same age as Karius. Always found it funny the guy being named as a genuine alternative despite having no top level experience of note.

Mignolet is Mignolet and I would rate him now as being a level below Karius.

Karius is under the microscope something rotten at the moment and we have the odd situation of people treating pre season friendlies like something that actually matters. But once the season starts and Alisson is in goals, then Karius can fade into the shadows and work on his game from the number two slot which would have less scrutiny.

For me the obvious answer is to see if we can keep Karius as our number two for the season, and then take it from there next summer. If he wants out then he can stick in a transfer request, but I still would not be getting rid unless we had a good keeper lined up to come in (and one that was arriving knowing he was going to be back up).

Getting a quality keeper is difficult as we have seen, and I would say that getting a good keeper to come just to be a back up would be just as difficult.

No point at all moving Karius on if it meant we ended up with a weaker number two keeper than if we kept Karius.

That does make sense, especially as his stock could hardly be lower just now.

You mean when we refused all loan offers for him, even to go back to Huddersfield after he helped promote them. Instead, we just kept him here all season, with one appearance against Leicester in the Carabao Cup. His lack of progression was our fault.

I'm not sure Karius sees himself as a number two keeper. Once we went out and bought another he knew the game was up for him - we've not spent all that money to put some competition for places there. The new guy should be our number one for years, unless he gets the yips as well. Which would be awful.
