Klopp eh? Two training games against first class opponents in two days.

Arsenal next week, a real game this time, three points at stake

Does he know what he's doing?

I think so, no I know so.

    And I can't wait.

Luckily only Karius and Sakho are medium term the rest should be back in a couple of weeks at worst.

As long as they try hard I'm all for them.

What? Yes. Quite right? What. Marvellous. Equal rights and all that. What.

Florence Nightingale, Margaret Thatcher. That's the future. What.

Jurgen Klopp believes fatigue was partly to blame for Liverpool's 4-0 hiding at Mainz .

The Reds boss revealed that he had initially intended to play two different line ups in the back-to-back weekend friendlies but had to shelve those plans, partly as a result of Daniel Sturridge, Sheyi Ojo and James Milner joining the club's injured list.

Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Alberto Moreno, Marko Grujic, Kevin Stewart, Gini Wijnaldum, Danny Ings, Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino were all involved in Germany – less than 24 hours after helping Liverpool thrash Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley.

“It wasn't all that great for us,” Klopp said.

“We were well aware this was going to be hard. Playing Barcelona the night before and then flying over, I knew some would be tired but we were looking forward to coming here.

“I also knew that we would have to play with two different teams otherwise it wouldn't work.

“But there were a couple of reasons why we couldn't go through with that plan of having two completely different teams.

“Some had to play in both games and they looked more tired than the others.

“This would probably explain some of the things we saw but that's not meant as an excuse.

“Mainz just seemed to want it more. They were more eager and deserved their win.

“The way we played wouldn't win any match. It's far away from the Liverpool I want to see and the Liverpool I've seen before.

“Some days you just have to accept what happens on the pitch.

“This team is actually on a good path but nobody could tell from this match.

“Unbelievably, there were still some things I actually liked. I can work with this match and make use of some things.”

Klopp received a rapturous reception on his return to the club he served as player and then manager over 18 years.

“It was really nice to be back in Mainz and see so many familiar faces and I wish everyone well,” he added.

“When I look at the familiar faces, they don't look as young as they did back in the day!

“The Opel Arena is a beautiful stadium and I could see how much the fans enjoyed their day.”

This bit pretty much sums up why he's using the excuse that he couldn't use two different lineups:

He didn't want to fob off his first love club by sending our youngsters and neither should he. I've got no problems with him showing a bit of loyalty to his past. Shows that he's a man of principle (principal?) unlike that blue idiot wearing the red of utd.

Can and Wijnaldum in a 2. Might as well give Barca a 5 goal head start now and just play the second half with the subs.

Remember this? My question still stands regardless of the anomalous results against a **** Barca and Arsenal. If Barca had half the fitness then they'd have been up 5-0. Everyone overlooked we actually scored most of our goals when Origi appeared in the second half. Which is what I said should have happened in the first!!

Burnleycelona had no problem. Mane is just masking the cracks that appear when he's not playing. If Klopp still can't see this then

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
