    Who's pleased.....

.....we didn't sign that fat little German lad?

Gotze would have been a fish out of water, he could never cope with the pace over here. Wonder where klopp would have tried to fit him in and at who's expense in the team. Was he to be a replacement for little Phil?

He scored the other night in the CL and no Liverpool player did. I think that's all that needs to be said on this matter.

As Rafa used to say, he would have given us possibilities....

Can't see any reason why a player of Gotze's quality would struggle in the PL. (Why is it always supposed that a foreign player wouldn't be able to cope with the physicality if he's - under 6ft/not a speed demon/slight build/has a chubby face, etc?)

That said, I don't think we're missing him given the depth and quality we appear to have among our attacking players.

If Klopp wanted him, good enough for me.

I'm pleased we have Mane. Gotze is class but similar in pace to Coutinho and Firmino.

If it was a case of buy Gotze and not Mane I'm happy with the way it went. If we wanted both I still wouldn't say no.

Jesus H Christ, scored in a world cup final, has massive experience in UCL and winning titles and would have been cheaper than Wijnaldum, come on guys.

He plays a completely different position. I can't see how he's better than what we have now, plus he looks horribly over weight and lacking in pace. I just wonder where klopp would have played him and instead of who?

Bob - why not just head over to the fight thread and post that you'll take on allcomers ?

OMG this exact question came to mind yesterday! I reckon he'd have take the Lallana role and we'd be poorer for it because Lallana is a Duracell bunny in terms of his pressing and tactical nous.

I'm also happy. Not sure why you would think differently?

Just putting it out there that I think not getting him was a good thing. Plus if he had arrived who do people think would of been most at risk? Only Forster bothered to mention a name IE lallana. There is no way gotze could put the running in that lallana does.

Only because it's working out so well right now. I know Götze was part of Klopp's Dortmund and fits into a certain style. I can't help but think that the team is more humble without a major 'star' in the team and therefore work harder to make the team the star.
