I'm not remotely familiar with Soton (although Jay Rodriguez was handy before his serious injury). Did they have many / any playing internationals this past week?

VVD and Fonte probably the big ones for them, although less of an issue with CB's. Tadic broke his nose first match, so got rested. Redmond and JWP played for England U-21's I think, second match in France. Davis played 1.5 games fo NI and nobody else of real note.

this will be a very big test...... and could be the start of a huge 2 or 3 weeks in our season.

This saturday, lets hope United and Arsenal knock the ****e out of each other. Injuries, suspensions, maybe a Jose-Wenger scuffle on the sidelines. And let them play out a 0-0 or 1-1 when it comes to the actual result.

If Boro could do what they did away to City or Arsenal and take two points off Chelsea, that would be all the better.

Next weekend, lets hope for Chelsea and Spurs to equally knock the ****e out of each other. And the following weekend, then City and Chelsea can hopefully do the same.

But if LFC can get the points against Southampton (a), Sunderland (h), Bournemouth (a) and West Ham (h) then we could find us starting to create a bit of a gap.....

Massive test this weekend. Coutinho & Lallana missing, Firmino just off a plane from Brazil. Southampton will be up for this too.

The difference this season is that we have the strength in depth in the squad for situations exactly like this.

If Lallana drops out then we have Wijnaldum to come in, who would have started the last few games if it wasn't for Emre playing well. If Coutinho drops out we have Sturridge to come in, who has been playing well off the bench in league games (could have very easily got a hat-trick against Watford) and scored for England.

Two great players to have as backup - I'm optimistic.
